House In Megaton

Post » Fri Apr 01, 2011 11:04 pm

First of all, it is definitely better to choose to disarm the bomb in Megaton. As much fun as it would be to watch the nuclear bomb blow up, it is more productive to disarm it. The house in Megaton may not appear that great from the outside, but it is not bad in the inside. There is this robot buttler inside that is a lot better than the buttler you get in Skingrad, in Oblivion. The robot has plenty of helpful options.

If you were wonder what to supply your house with, I think the most important thing is the medical center thing (free healing; free limb healing; and free radiation healing). The supplies for the house are quite expensive, so it is important to choose the most important thing. The second most important thing is the laboratory thing, because it detoxifies you for free. After that you can get whatever you want, but those are the best things to buy in order to save you that most money in the end, that is if you plan on adventuring and getting hurt a lot. This allows you to save your stimpacks for more important emergencies. If you have enough money to buy whatever you want, then good for you.

All of which is nice, except that I have it all in my Tenpenny apartment, which I got for exploding the bomb.

When you blow up Megaton, you lose all of the quests in Megaton.

Your replies were not completely related to the point of the topic. If you are going to reply, please make it directly germane to the topic and provide reasoning and good discusion.

Blowing up Megaton also makes it harder to find the Wolfgang vendor, if you didn't blow him up :nuke:. He is important for repairing the T-51b power armor.

Which we did, we directly countered your points given why you shouldnt blow megaton - Your points were invalid. A discussion involves hearing sides which dont agree with you.

Blowing Megaton doesnt make it harder to find Wolfgang, there are something like 7 other merchant stops you can wait at.

The only valid and correct point you've made is loosing the Megaton quests - Which can be countered by doing them first.

The only real differences gamewise is if you disarm the nuke the door to lucas sims' house is unlocked for you so you can get the bobblehead, you loose one potential source to sell scrap metal to (the Outcasts are better for this anyway), you cant get lucas sims' coat sand you loose all the vendors their except moira (but they're not particularly useful ones: a drugs merchant, a bartender, and a food seller).

Your points are more than valid and I was not being serious with the Wolfgang thing. I was being sarcastic, because the true point of this thread is what items are most important for your house if you don't have a lot of money. Thank you, and please stay on the point of the thread. :nothanks:

I go for the Megaton house too, but I prefer the apartment in Tenpenny Tower, I just don't like Tenpenny Tower. I had a lot of fun decorating. I wish I could add more posters though.

Personally I don't buy the infirmary and whatnot because healing at a doctor's is one of the only things you have to spend your money on later in the game.

I got rid of my robot butler. He kept knocking things over and he always, always seemed to be in the way. So he had an unfortunate accident and got shot in the face several times with my laser pistol.

I dumped him in a corner out of the way but the cool thing is I left for a while and when I came back he was gone.

That is correct, but I find both ones to be far too tiny for my purposes.

I do find saving Megaton seems to be more beneficial, though, since you can still enter Tennpenny Tower even if you don't destroy Megaton, therefore, you lose one town if you destroy Megaton, not that it makes too much difference, since you can avoid losing the quests in Megaton if you do them before blowing it up, the only merchant who is really useful in the town won't die anyway, and the unique items Lucas Simms has can be acquired before blowing it up, when I did do so, I actually killed him before going to Tennpenny Tower just so I could take his coat and hat and I could get the key to his house so I could get the Bobblehead. You also can no longer sell scrap metal to Walter, which is not a huge problem, since you can sell it elsewhere to, and you'll have more bottle caps than you can hope to use with our without him anyway. In the end, saving Megaton is, I would say, beneficial, but not enough so to give you a reason to choose that over blowing the town up if the latter is what you really want to do.

As to the items you get in your house, I have to agree the infirmary and lab are the best, the infirmary mostly for curing radiation only, since you can heal wounds by sleeping for an hour in your bed too, when I had the Tennpenny suite, I also found it helpful to buy a workbench there, as I don't recall there being any in the Tower otherwise, Moira has one in Megaton, so it wouldn't be needed there.
