Multiplayer haters need to take a deep breath and chill

Post » Mon Jun 22, 2009 11:30 am

I hear alot of complaining about multiplayer and I have to say I don't get it. Sure I've had a few instances where I should have gotten a kill but because of connection issues or host advantage I got killed instead. However most of the time the game plays very well for me and considering it just launched I think people need to chill.

Of course it's annoying to lose a kill you think you rightfully deserve but it happens IN EVERY GAME EVER MADE. Online connections are never perfect and at launch many games are far far more glitchy and laggy than this one. I'm actually impressed with my experience with this game considering it launched Tuesday. Hell I still lose kills due to connection in many AAA games like Halo and Cod but I that's the nature of online gaming.

Unless of course you are truly lagging all the time and it's not your online connection that is the issue. I would then advise a bit of patience because this game has tremendous potential. So take a deep breath and instead of ranting on these forums, state your issues without all the hate and WTFs. I'd be surprised if the online experience doesn't improve for you soon.

The game is great the armour abilites make this a fun and tense shooter which is easily on par with other shooters and if not even better. Juat give it a chance and you will enjoy it is a great buy.

I agree with the original poster. The hate this game receives makes absolutely no sense in my mind. I bought this game on release day and the only other game I've played is NHL 11. I haven't touched Call of Duty since, and I've been playing Call of Duty since CoD 2.

This game to me, is amazing in so many ways. The maps, armour abilities, the weapons, you name it. I have a blast playing this game and I have yet to have that one thing happen to me where it really aggravates me like a Call of Duty game would. This game is FUN, and in my mind, that signifies a $60 well spent for me.

Yes the connections are somewhat iffy, but as the poster said, all online games suffer from lag, whether dedicated or not, I can still kill people with a two bar just as easily as a three bar person can. This issues and many little bugs shall be worked out eventually. People expect to be treated like royalty when it comes to these things. Why don't YOU go and fill their shoes for a day? It's not easy being a game developer like one might think. I'm not a game developer and I have no experience as one, but fixing things like these aren't easy. It's not as easy as a press of a red button and you're done. Give them time, like many people have said, this game just came out on Tuesday...

I'm now ready to get flamed and bashed by all of the haters here.

Yeah I have been playing the crap out of this game. There are some bad games and some good ones. I think the matchmaking could use some tuning but I feel like if I have a three bar connection on this game it is better than three bar connections in other games. Also there are not many instances of frame rate drops. Overall it is pretty smooth. I just wish I didnt have to wait to level 39 for the hard core mode.

It's stupid how a game-type modifier unlocks so late....

Sure lag is annoying but if you let that get to you, then you might as well give up on online gaming altogether. P2P or dedicated server you will still have latency issues. At least I can connect to an Online Game and play a fairly new twist on a shooter. Just need to get some friends playing at the same time and this game could be real fun to play.

The only people defending this game are the ones exploiting every flaw in the game. There is so many balance issues I don't think it can be fixed. So few people have played this game and most (myself included) have stopped playing. Its not profitable to fix a game that nobody is playing. Get mad at me if you want. YOU KNOW I'M RIGHT. only time will tell. I wish I could blame lag for all my mistakes!

Please stop blaming P2P. The real problem is that we are just matched with people we shouldn't play with, because of latency issues.

I'm level 39 now, and i'ts pretty annoying how I had to level up all of this way, play this much time and still not get any good connections. It really isn't fair how the host is always **** and how is it possible that me and my friend playing off the same connection in the same room have different connections? GG bro GG, should have bought for PC, who get dedicated servers. but no, **** the console users, they get **** P2P connection.

I think it's unrealistic to expect a brand new multiplayer game to have perfect connections right out of the gate. All you people cursing and throwing hate around need to take that deep breath and stop getting so angry at getting killed in multiplayer.

as for the poster who said the only people enjoying the game are the ones taking advantage of exploits - that is a ridiculous statement. My KDR is about .9, I'm not "working the system" to take advantage of exploits, I run and gun, barely ever cloak, and don't care if I get meleed when I thought I had the drop on a guy.

It's a game, chill out and enjoy the varied gameplay or I guess just go back to whatever shooter you were playing before, but relax all the same.

is it just me or is it a bit funny that people say noone plays this and that those that do hate it, while well over half the people playing agree that they'd choose this as to COD or Halo? I mean come on, if it was SO **** there would be NO ONE playing, every time i play MP it matches me within a minute. I've never had the MP issues people are tlkn about and i've been playing ONLY this since i picked up my pre-order. The only reason people defend COD is because all their friends "like" it and they like to follow the crowd.

Half the people playing choose this over Halo And COD? WTF only 202000 people have played this game online check the stats page. Last time I played COD there was 600000 online over 4 months old. And halo still gets 700000+ plays every 24hrs. I get put in to rooms fast as well often with some of the same people. MP for crysis 2 has made alot of people who where looking for a new game very sad. I'LL bet that well over half the people that gave this game a chance have stopped playing and have gone back to there old games. The first week is the highest online numbers the game will post. What do you think will happen to this game in 4 months?

Of course CoD and Halo gets tons of players each and every month. They're mainstream games and most people are familiar with the brand name. The Crysis name isn't that well known, on consoles that is, so it wasn't expected to to amass hundreds of thousands of players online. I guess people are just afraid to try new things. Crysis 2 changed the multiplayer experience. CoD changes one little thing and people jump on it like it's revolutionary.

i think Crysis 2 is amazing ive only had one bad multiplayer experience where i was on skyline and it was either major lag or a hack but this guy kept falling into one of those bottomless pits that kill you if you fall in but he would fall in and bounce back up and fall in and bouce back up and he would do this in a whole bunch of other spaces to get kills

Multiplayer has worked well for me. My issues with Crysis 2 stem from the single player campaign.

I hate all the people hating on the game because of lag, glitches, getting assassinated all the time, etc. I sold in CoD to help get this and I think I couldn't have made a better decision. The only reason I ever kept that piece of garbage in my home is because of Zombies, which had CONSTANT migrating hosts (which never migrated and just kicked you), the connection was downright horrible for all my friends, there were tons of glitches that were ignored, the developers never listened to the community, and there was constant hate on the forums.

Besides Zombies, the multiplayer just gave me a bad headache, there were people with over a billion credits, modders, hackers, glitchers, punks, tryhards, and little squeakers. I never liked CoD because it's the same thing every time.... Spawn, take 1/3 paths, shoot 5 bullets into them, kill them, then get killed. The hardcoe mode is just blatantly unrealistic and stupid, because it takes only one pistol shot to the shin to kill someone, which means it takes even less skill. The Killstreaks were overpowered and the other team usually got screwed of someone got a Chopper Gunner or Gunship. I just love the killstreaks on Crysis because they're not ridiculously overpowered, but they still give you a sufficient advantage.

Crysis 2 takes SO much more skill than CoD. It's got faster gameplay and more to do than point and shoot. You have to learn how to use the Nanosuit abilities which takes some time to adapt to, and if you use them right your virtually unstoppable. The graphics are by far the best I've seen in any game and I haven't experienced any consistent lagging (maybe only 1/7 matches?).

I do get some trouble with lag from time to time, but I am hoping they can fix it by making playing with people in your area Priority 1 in the matchmaking process. Other than that, I agree, crysis is so much fun to play. I like that in order to get killstreaks you have to go over to your victims body, risking your skin essentially, and get their dogtags. I do realize that once people get retriever unlocked, they'll probably mainly use that, but I'll just use my cloak to get behind them and kill them. What I love about crysis is that it gives you options. Halo and black ops, the maps make you have to play a certain way, and killstreaks in CoD nowadays just make every gametype team deathmatch. Also, for those who say sales numbers determine if a game is good or not, consider this, remember when MW2 came out? It had no competition! No gears of war, no halo, nothing, that's why it sold so much and black ops just rode one the back it's success. Many people bought Black Ops because Treyarch said they fixed a lot of the problems, which they did but they took out a lot of the variety in the guns. I've talked to a few of my friends and others who used to love CoD, and they say they don't plan on getting MW3 because it's not going to change AT ALL! Robert Bowling even said so in an interview, I don't feel like looking it up, but just type it in on google.

TL:DR: I do hope that they can fix the issues, if they can fix the lag they'll fix a good majority of the problems.
