companions cant use anti-venom?

Post » Tue Jun 23, 2009 11:58 am

sooooooo....... i tried giving boone i think it was 5 anti-venom in his inventory so when he got stung by a swarm of casidors he could cure his toxins, but he never used them... the is also no option to use it on them. i dont know how may stimpaks i wasted on my companions alone cause the venom nearly kills them every time. i mean i have used about 9 stimpacks on one infection... there needs to be a fix for this!!!

and last but not least. ED-E is a robot, how can he get infected as well, when he has no flesh or organs?

Yes they need to fix it, I hope it will be fixed/improved a bit in the next patch.

And about ED-E, the engines old, remember? It's like an 07 engine I think (gamebyro).

The only thing those 'Real life Cazadores' lack is size. Oh well, they still look like them. :fallout:

I had a situation like that in that Cazador canyon out by Red Rock...really wiped out my aid inventory.

In the Deathclaw Promontory, I gave my companions each 4 Stimpaks. ED-E used one of them. Boone was ok.

Yep there's no way to get them to take it.
I've tried numbers ranging from 1 to 100 anti venom.
I've tried it before and after combat, tried taking some myself to see if it was a party based thing.

Nope it's just a quite big oversight, one that may get patched around the time of dlc releases for all systems.
That or just left as is, and for modders on PC to fix for at least that system.

There's already a work-around on it with http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37572. It takes a few menus, and requires NVSE, but it's better than letting Rex slowly die for me. If you're like LadyCrimson, you probably won't like this method and just try to adjust a value of companion's clothing to have poison resistance.

That actually works? Well I guess it may if it can work for Stimpacks. It'll probably be better to have it as a "heal" method to your companion, just like the Companion wheel does with Stimpacks; less of a hassle if they do run out of Anti-Venom.

Why don't you just add poison healing to 'NPC only' say super stim?

Cazador venom must be terrible, if its any worse then the pre-mutated stuff Tarantula Wasps have.

If your stung, you have nothing to do but scream through pain equal to bullets, for maybe 3 minutes straight, paralyzed.

Companions don't use anti-venom because stimpacks should cure them of the poison (and it should only take one, just like it cures them of being crippled) but with the last patch using stimpacks on poisoned companions no longer works properly and is crazy bugged. Hopefully they'll fix it again with the next patch.

p.s. - companions, far as I can tell, on their own will only use buffout (fairly common & will prefer it over stimpack), stimpacks (rarely & only when very low on hp), and the occasional food item.

This is one of the reasons why hardcoe mode is just not worth playing, out of the box. Companions are stupid and they die almost instantly to tough enemies like cazadores, which on hardcoe mode is permanent death. Mod out the companion permadeath, and then it's right.

Or be careful with them. My guy is still using companions, currently with Arcade and has cleared the Bitter Springs area and Jacobstown area with him. Just take it slow, funnel them in and if they do get hit, apply the occasional stimpak. It's annoying, don't get me wrong, but we never get overwhelmed by the blighters.
