If that was the case, everybody else would've rolled their military all over the US.

From what i understand of the lore, tensions between everyone was so high, when the first nukes starting hitting everyone else would've joined in to settle old scores.

The intro of 1 and 2 states that everything was bombed to hell and back. And no, Ron Pearlman doesn't lie. Only in Police Academy.

I think that in the 200 years since the US got nuked, other countries will have taken a peek to see whats what.

Also they would not just 'roll their military' over it. Who wants to fight over a nuked wasteland and wage total war over it? Maybe a small taskforce would go in to get any secret technology but thats about it.

However most likely the world would be screwed and just one entire nuclear wasteland as every country with nukes apparantly launched them.

Well, not roll there military in. But maybe drive in to place a flag and claim the place.

Remember it's the flag thats important. If you don't have a flag, you can't play. That's how the British Empire was built, we had flags, nobody else did.

True that there'd be nothing to fight over. Just tech (Especially power armour, according to lore, America had the only decent power armour) and the prestige have having taking the country.

Like EmperorJim says, not much point in taking the place though since it's just a wasteland.

That is correct, if other countries were not effected by the war, I think they would have shown their presence by now, an irradiated wasteland wouldn't be an interesting place to conquer for a country that was not decimated by nuclear war, of course, but the many advanced technologies America had before the war would interest other countries. It's not clear what the condition of other nations are, probably because Fallout has always focused on America, but I think it can safely be said that things are far from good elsewhere too.

Look at the state of America. Now imagine the condition other countries must be in, when they weren't the exclusive owner/exporter of the last oil source on Earth, therefore had a lot less money to build vaults.

In the intro to fallout 1 I believe it states that Europe fell into chaos when resources dried up; that and during the cold war the two superpowers built military bases in other countries as a launching point, something that probably happened in the FO universe.

Well I would think USA and Europe are pretty much dust along with Asia but us cool guys over here in Africa? Well we just partied on. LOL

It never ceases to amaze me how everyone seems to see the world as America and Europe, there is a lot more to the world than just that pull out an atlas and have a look you may be surprised.

According to FO1 and 2 intros, most of the planet was nuked. Africa could be nuked too, because it still had colonies of European (and maybe Asian) powers.

That was the subject of a Robert Heinlein book (really about racism). The US, Europe, and Asia nuke each other to oblivion and the Africans take over.

Thank you. i knew it was one of the ones, I've got nearly all of his shows, but some are on video too and it take stime to search through them.

Yes, videos, some of you won't remember them. *Sigh* Lousy kids with you new fangled VD players.

*Ahem* Fact is, as mentioned before if any area or nation of the world was left untouched, after 200 years somebody would've heard.

According to lore, america was one of the most technologically advanced nations, if not the most advanced. At some point someone would've shown up to help themselves to all that lovely tech.

Instead, everyone else is probably struggling to survive.

There has to be one country at least that wasn't struck by a nuke, there are so many small nations out there who would not attract the hostility of a major power, or the tactical significance for a major power to place an outpost there who could have survived. Though to be fair with no available oil, no trade partners and other ammenities, it can't be doing that well even one year after an international nuclear war.

Ron Pearlman did lie in the intro of Fallout 3. he said no one ever enters Vault 101 and no ever ever leaves--blatantly untrue due to not only your father and yourself, but also the scout parties sent to Megaton, and the people like Moira who suggest that a few folks come out of that placeevery couple of decades (said when referring to armored vault suit).

I wonder if the rest of the Earth was really as bombed as the US? Who would bother to nuke Africa, for instance? Iceland? Australia? Would you carpet nuke all of Eurasia? It seems possible pockets of the world were left relatively intact.

Well Tenpenny came from England, right? So theres got to be some kind of Trans-Atlantic transportation going on.
And where did the Enclave come from? They probably have some secret facility in the Rocky Mountains

If you played any of the original fallouts, the Enclave came from an Oil rig, that survived off the coast of California.

After the USSR fell apart, some of their declassified documents showed that in the event of an all out nuclear war they would nuke many uninvolved cities all over the world. That was simply to keep everyone as wounded as their nation would have been. Never heard if the US would have done that, but I tend to think we would have. Since the world of Fallout is pretty much a worst case scenario, there's a good chance many targets in Africa would have been hit twice. Once by each side!

Also, don't forget, not being hit by the full nuke exchange wouldn't mean everything was A-OK. There's a nuclear winter to deal with. A couple years of nothing but winter. Plus, Africa doesn't have a very good track record with respect to the longevity of social systems and nations. I think Africa would be healthier than much of the rest of the world... but because of long standing bad blood and radiation, probably not much better off than it would have been in 2077.

Wandering kind off topic, African history is pretty darn interesting. I took a semester of it in school and wish I could have taken part II. A topic worth blowing one of your xmas gift cards on!

Apparently, a loading screen says Tenpenny is from GB. I know Dashwood's terminal refers to Moriarty as having "been playing the angles since he came to this country." So we can figure he's from across the water, too.
