Stand-alone Caravan Game

Post » Tue Jun 30, 2009 12:23 pm

Hey, fellow Wastelanders!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I find Caravan to be immensely enjoyable! Once I finally got the rules down pat, I ended up playing it for hours.

Now, my work computer is not nearly as good as my home computer and, call me picky, I don't want to play New Vegas and have it look and play terribly as I explore new things, plus my hour lunch isn't nearly enough time to get some good exploring in anyway. ;)

I then realized that if I could, I'd love to just play Caravan by itself on my work computer, as a stand-alone game. I think this would be a really good idea, especially for people who enjoy playing Caravan but don't have enough time (or perhaps even caps) to play it through New Vegas. I understand that you could easily boot up New Vegas and fast-travel to a known Caravan player location...but sometimes I sit here on my shorter breaks and think, "I wish I could just play Caravan right now." With a stand-alone version you could just boot and play, even if you only have 15 minutes! There's even potential for multiplayer functionality (considering it is only a card game). Heck, it could potentially be an application for the iPhone and such for Caravan on the go!

So, that's what this poll is about. =)

Would you like to see a stand-alone Caravan game? Would you pay for it? Let me know what you think!

Who knows? Maybe it'll come true! =P

Even after reading the rules it still confuses the hell out of me. Not as bad as poker in Red dead redemptipn. But I just use the save reload metod in this game. I know you need about 21-26 but then it just gets confusing, especially when the other guy wins and he hasnt got all 20s and gah I dont want to think about it. If you enjoy it sure. Play it irl to with proper cards if you gdet bored.

What worries me is collecting the cards.

I could see a free game through sponsorship on fancy phones. Collect cards by actually finding and and photographing codes on sponsors advertisemants in the real world, and then play against friends on your phone's network.

Single player would definitely require them to finish programming your opponent, though. The opponents in the game right now are way too easy to beat.

Just make it like solitaire, except you have the deck building function; cards are rewarded by taking them away from opponent.

Pretty cool wifi-game I say.

I'm not sure how it'd work unless you had to use randomized decks for the games. Once you build a good deck in this game you're just about unbeatable unless you just aren't paying attention, although I suppose that's down to the bad computer AI playing against you.

i would certainly pay for a caravan app for my ipod! i pray everynight someone will whip up even a cheap crappy knock off version so i can play something even close to caravan. i would pay 3 quid for it! they could even release special promo packs through codes similar to the dungeon solitaire game. you could get new cards through an in game store, using the caps that you win in matches, either against cpu or online players. i think it'd be awesome an would most definately be one of my most used apps!
