Are you using Alchemy?

You may want to.

Because of Vista and the abandonment of Direct Sound, this game, among others, can be unstable. Get the program, tell it about Fallout 3 and see what happens. Or, rather, hear what happens...

Of course, you have to have a Creative Card (not sure if it works on other brands of EAX or Directsound products)

Tell you what, try it. You can always uninstall the program, it is not going to replace drivers and what not. I would be interested to see what happens.

As for your Realtek, did you upgrade/update your motherboard drivers (which will update the sound drivers)?

If you change the lines bMusicEnabled=1 and bSoundEnabled=1 to 0 in your fallout.ini, does the crashing stop?

i was just out at the realtek website, it seems they have release a program for realtek soundcards called 3D SoundBack Beta 0.1 which should do the same as alchemy just for realtek sound cards.. im gonna try it..

EDIT: Well, the issue is proberly a corrupt fallout 3 installation, but since my fallout 3 cd is to scratched to reinstall fallout 3, im just gonna uninstall fallout 3 and find some other game to play from now on..
