New Vegas, the city of empty promise.

The DLC needs to add alot to the main game to make more than 2 playthroughs enjoyable

i agree, but i'm not expecting any dlc to add anything to the base game, its too bad the new vegas world is so empty, they could of done a lot better job with the desert and filled it up more, more enemies, factions patrolling, more towns to explore, a lot more buildings instead of desert, there's not many good hiding places and battlezones, you're out in the open whereever you are, it doesn't have a lot of places to hide, makes stalking enemies boring, new vegas loses its appeal after a couple playthroughs. the enemy spawns are static, most enemies don't use tactics, there's no random encounters or events. the story isn't even that good, its just mediocre. its not a very good game really once you play it a couple times.

I have to agree with some of the stuff you said there wesoftherockes except for that the storyline isnt that good and that its not that good of a game. But serously nothing ever happens in the fing desert why would they have it there. SOO MUCH SAND AND NOT ENOUGH ENEMIES.

well the people who say, "oh its not about combat and exploration, its the story"...i was just saying the story isn't some great selling point, its just a story, it works for the game, but it doesn't make up for the lack of exploration and empty map.

I think people are misunderstanding my complaint. This isn't about The Strip in particular. It's about Las Vegas itself. I mean, there's very few places to explore in Vegas, most of the buildings outside the walls are rubble like they were bombed, and the few places that arent rubble are boarded up. I don't know, I don't hate the game at all, I just feel like Vegas as a world build has very little to explore, not in the 'OMG L33T W3@PONS' way, just in a way that enhances the feeling of a generation long gone and likely forever gone.

That is one of the main reasons why I hate the New Vegas area. It has so many homes and buildings but majority of them are boarded up. Sure one could put forth the assumption that they are boarded up due to structural failiures but I find it highly unlikely that 90% of the buildings would be in that shape in 200 years. Cmon concrete structures can last for along time, especially if they are in a dry area such as Nevada where they have very low humidity levels and very little rain/snow fall. This will make buildings take longer to corrode and fall apart.

Personally I would have liked to see more buildings open even if they were abandoned with minor loot or no loot at all worth taking. Its the exploration part that was killed for me when I finally got to Vegas. I had more exploration done away from the strip than I did around and at the strip. For a city that was obviously never hit directly by the bombs there was alot of "bomb" damage to some areas such as the Fiend terrority in the destoryed section of New Vegas.

Probably the worst example of this was the Searchlight Airport; a massive and clearly important structure that was totally inaccessible! I was shocked to discover I couldn't get in there.

I don't have a problem with some buildings being boarded up, as FO3 had the same thing, but a structure that dominates the landscape to that degree needs to be enterable.

Thank god for NVInteriors, I suppose.

Are you talking about getting inside the buildings of the Searchlight airport or just getting into the airport itself? If its the latter one you can get into the airport and wander around, the buildings are just closed up and theres nothing really there other than a few ammo cans and thats pretty much it.

Yes i agree, i loved fallout 3. But when you make a New game after a year or so...you should want to make it better fix bugs that was in the last game. This game came out wth alot of Bugs, Lacking Content, No patch for like what 2 months after it came out??? I lost my 40 hour saving to the save bug. So i was thinking the DLC would be Free. Other than that i love the Fallout game and series, i just feel this game could have been 50x better. sorry if my opinion offends you.

That is where alot of my disappointment comes from. There was alot more expectations than I had for FO3 considering I found out about FO3 from a friend. Saw FO3 in stores but the box art and photos on the back never grabbed my attention.

So you've never played FO3? If not you should try it. :)

Wasnt clear in my post, I saw it when it first came out but the box art never grabbed my attention. Wasnt till a friend of mine was talking about it and playing it that I found out what I was missing and ended up getting the GOTY edition. Which was the reason why I blindly got New Vegas the day it came out that morning cause I thought it was going to blow FO3 out of the water. To be honest both games were great but I have no strong drive to play New Vegas after my initial play through. I am on my 3rd right now and wondering if I should just do all quests again and then at the end save it and side with each different faction to see what happens.

For FO3 I have that mod that gives me a nice prewar house from the simulator and a few bunker mods for bunkers in homes. I have been working on an Area 51 bunker mod for New Vegas but havent touched it in a few days after I got 40% of the size for the vault dungeon I used and I still havent populated the map with items, props, or loot.

Only thing that kills FO3 for me is how poor power armor is. I can quickly be killed by a super mutant overlord with a laser rifle while I am wearing power armor at Level 30. Be nice if the game would be updated with DT to make the power armor worth it. Thats one thing I love about New Vegas. Walking around in my remanant power armor as some thug runs up to me in freeside and starts bashing me with a pipe and hearing that KLING every hit but not doing anything to me.

I feel your pain Colonel. As much as I've enjoyed the Fallout series the past 10+ years, New Vegas was a let down for me for those exact reasons. I just wish they would make an expansion that included a major overhaul of New Vegas and surrounding areas.

i agree, i didn't think a desert was the best spot, but it could of had lot more of everything, more enterable buildings, more towns, even if they are deserted towns, just to have some more places, there's not a lot of cover, so if you want to fight enemies a lot of it gonna be in the open with not a lot of cool places to hide, the map is just so empty for its size, and there aren't any random encounters or events either.
