Fix the proximity alarm!!!

Post » Sun Aug 02, 2009 11:18 pm

Please fix the proximity alarm. When playing and an enemy is nearby there is no audio warning me that someone is close. The only way i can tell is by looking at my map and seeing the white bars change to red. Please fix this crytek.

It gets audio once you level it up more but it's nowhere near as good as it was in the demo

I am sorry for jumping the gun on this but yes it does work once you level it up you can hear it. It makes a different noise than it did in the demo but it is still audible. I have also noticed another problem as i was playing online. When an enemy shoots you as he is coming out of cloak and you are already armored up and both start shooting at the same time and the cloaked person wins 9 times out of 10. Does anyone else experience this?

Does anyone else think this new noise is potentially glitched? Meaning that it's actually supposed to sound different than it does now. The sound now sounds like a lame metal clang that cut's off half way through the soundbyte. It's such a weird noise, and with the other sound issues, it makes me think perhaps that's not REALLY what it's supposed to sound like.

I have level 3 by the way, before anyone accuses me of not having it leveled up.

Oh and @OP just to make it painfully clear, you have to hit level 2 Proximity Alarm (getting 200 kills with it equipped) for it to start making noise.

it does sound glitched but maybe its because its supposed to be an odd sound so it gets your attention?

@nickthomas im not sure about your experience but for me its makes noise in level 1 although not consistently. Some matches its works fine although its very quiet and an odd noise thats easy to get lost in the background. Other times its completely silent and never makes a sound and i just get the red bar on the map. I have to agree that its broken.
I've also had a weird glitch where it wouldn't recognise someone coming up some stairs until they were on the same level as me on skyline, and ive had it beep (clang?) when someone is a few floors down from me so its a little inconsistent. Although in all it has come in handy and still given me the heads up when someone was near by so its still useful even if its not 100% right.

I had problems with it in single player. The alarm would go off when there were Marines by me, so I basically had it going off the whole time.

Lol, I love when people use the proximity alarm and tell me where there are ;). Otherwise, I might just walk by and let them live!

I have experienced that. Is there a suit module that lets you shoot out of stealth without draining all of your energy? I may have to level a certain one to be able to do this, but if I try the same tactics I get owned. Idk, i thought that armor mode would allow you to deal more damage and take more but a guy coming out of stealth will kill me with 3 shots to the crotch while I'm in armor mode unloading around his shoulder/chest area.
