You didn't find anything disturbing... but imagine a 10 years old kid playing it...

Its not scary at all but it has got alot of violence

Ye, its not the scary stuff, more the blood, violence and the killing of innocent chicken/turtels and stuff. That just warps a kids mind into some psychopathic pet murder!!!! :P

Swearing and violence seems reasonable to be rated PEGI 16+.

Games like GTA, which contain all sorts of stuff, from six, to killing enemies with gory results would be classed as 18+. You have to consider the content at this point, is it disturbing to kids? Is it too much to take in? Is it for the faint hearted?

You must put these things into consideration. If your game was never aimed at kids, then a rating like PEGI 16+ or BBFC 15 will come into play. Anything advlt based, where violence, six etc. comes into play, then higher ratings will come.

Crysis was only violent in it's way of gun play, there were some moments in the game that you would jumped out of your chair, but overall, it's an FPS, most FPS's are rated 15+.

I remember playing the quake and doom series since I was five years old. Those were the good days, when no one cared about all this political correctness garbage.

^ What he said. It was the language that pushed it over 'T'. Luckily, if you're uptight about language, you can mod it to be 'T'. xD

Sharks scared the **** outta me and Im not a kid, sure it doesn't leave me with trauma but if i were 10... yeah dunno.

aztec scene was bit wtf moment too, but i think generally you cant restrict players based on age, parents know better but problem is parents either dont know the content, or dont care and this is why we've got some kind of restrictions, it's not flawless but it gives some hints.

Only thing rong with that is, breaktime at school, li'l tommy gets bullied by li'l sam and li'l fred cos they allowed to play game and he cant, so then he gets even more freakin scared than if he played the game. is like the trend with designer gear, if you aint got it, you svck, and thats not just with li'l kids, its right up through high school. I so wish it wasnt true. :-(

PEGI rating 16 = ESRB rating T for teen

Basically anything that contains "Violence" is rated T for teen, (even battlefield heroes THEYRE CARTOONS DARNIT)

PEGI usually makes that rough translation and puts that 16+ tag on the game.
I really can't see why anyone would care, it's not like the rating is enforced by law.

I think the aztec dead bit might well be the entire reason for the rating. It is pretty gory, the blood dripping in the torchlight looks quite real, aztec is truly messed up and his eyes make for a scary corpse. I do think that may just have tipped it over the edge. Some people do get very queezy at that sort of gore, despite how desensitized most of us are to it!!

I remember Tex Murphy Overseer, got a high rating pretty much because of one maggoty corpse, that was a while ago and nowhere near as realistic as aztec's mutilated face and body!

But also, the amount of stuff you can willingly kill. Not to mention grabbing a korean by the throat and watching him slowly die (yes, he dies, he does not pass out, he dies) in your iron nanosuit grip. He may look like he passes out, but he's gone, you throw him, he's dead before he hits the ground. Thats pretty........brutal!
