Crytek blames Pc piracy... thats not fair!

Post » Mon Aug 17, 2009 1:15 am

We all read about that after the leak Crytek and Ea cursed especially Pc pirates and pirating on the PC itself for this leak to appear. We also know for sure that it wasnt any of the known releasegroups who got their hand on the beta... so it was an internal affair 4 sure. So why complain about PC pirating in special?
What about the leaked Bulletstorm Beta for the 360 or the leaked Killzone 3 version?
Very good examples for a fact the Pc isnt the cursed platform everybody likes to declare.
I think you guys at crytek have some kind of trauma in terms of pc pirating.
The Pc gamers are not the ones to blame and also not the releasecrews ( but only this time)..
it was assumingly your own fault because youve trusted or gave acces to the wrong person.

Where did you see contradictions?
Crysis 2 leak -) causes Crytek to blame Pc piracy for that -) But no crew is responsible for the leak -) so its an internal problem -) So blaming the Pc piracy in particular isnt justified -) days later other leaks and betas from AAA titles appear on the internet which are no PC releases.

So my point is: Pc piracy was only the scapegoat for something that appears to be an internal problem.

In case you missed it, here's what happened last week (thanks, RPS):
...a developer build of Crysis 2 containing the full game, multiplayer and the master key for the online authentication has been leaked, and is currently freely available from all sorts of astonishingly illegal websites.

That, in itself, is not something I would normally write about. However, I received an e-mail from a source who wishes to remain anonymous (for obvious reasons), and here's what they said:
They have no internal security. Just about any employee could have leaked that build, and they (the Yerlis) aren't exactly diplomatic about firing people. They should feel lucky that the source didn't leak, as that would be only a little bit more difficult to get out of the building.

That's certainly more interesting.

The source is someone who has e-mailed for years, and I have no reason to doubt their sincerity.

Don't complain, your opinion won't make a difference. Neither will anyone else's.

I think we've had enough threads on this. I don't see this one doing anything ground breaking. If you wish to continue the subject then please do so in an existing thread.
