Crysis 2 on the Console with split-screen

Post » Wed Aug 26, 2009 12:28 pm

Hey come on i've been thinking about this for a while, cos ive been itching to pown my bros and mates that don't have good computers. Most of my mates have Xbox 360 consoles and we occasionally do LAN so having Crysis 2 with split-screen would be a god-send!! :)

It would be good, but with the amount intense stuff going around, it'd be too much for even the console to handle.

They'd have to sacrifice alot if they wish to make use split-screen. Someone else knows more about this though than I. I rarely play split-screen games.

I would love to see split screen as well. But, unfortunately, sahdev_92 is right, it would be too hard considering the graphics of this game.

Sure? I myself do not like online gaming, the Ping in gaming really bothers me. But maybe splitscreen.

To be honest, split screen doesn't need alot more performance to run, as long as the players stay close to eachother the game still loads the same world, the same AI, and the same physics. Usually only needs another 5% extra to controll the separate inputs and render friendly actions.

Because the game already preloads the sets so the extra would be the destructible environments and players, it seems plausible.

Yea, it wouldnt be so demanding on RAM or CPU calculations, as both players (assuming 2-player split screen) can be calculated easily at the same time. The problem is that you have to render twice the data on the same GPU - you cant share shader calculations.

This is possible on some engines because they drop the resolution (its only half the screen), but as a lot of us have seen, reducing the resolution by half doesn't increase the performance by 2x.

However, we dont know how well CE3 scales. For all we know the resolution is directly proportionate to performance (i.e. 800x600 = 60fps, 1600x600 = 30fps).

I'd like split screen as well, as long as sacrifices aren't made to single player or multiplayer to achieve it.
