Rank system seems a little to slow...

Post » Sun Aug 30, 2009 8:54 am

Not sure if this has been discussed or not.. But I have been playing multiplayer about 6 and half hours now and im currently only rank 8.. Is it me or does the ranking system seem to go by a little to slow.. Ive been using the same assault gun for about the entire time i have been playing and its getting kinda boring. Yea yea i know theres other guns that they allow you to use when you start out.. But I dont feel like using a sniper rifle, heavy machine gun.. or shotgun. Kinda annoying IMO. Otherwise from that the game is great fun. Just wished we ranked up just a little faster.. Or at least have the lower ranks go by a little faster to unlock guns earlier than rank 13... I mean cmon.. 6 and a half hours and only rank 8? I probably have to play another 2-3 hours just to unlock one new gun. And Im not super great at FPS's but im not horrible either. Ive been playing FPS's for a long time now and coming from different games that include a rank system it just feels... Slow.

Which timer are you looking at?

The timer in the stats page where your k/d ratio is isn't in game time, it time in the multiplayer menus too.

The timer on the leaderboards shows actual in game time.

Apparently it takes 60 hours or so of in-game time to get to max rank at lvl. 50 according to Crytek.

Quite fair if you ask me. I've seen much, much better XP grinds. I enjoy the game a lot so I don't even realize when I've played it for hours and ranked a few times.

Now just because people have a short attention span after coming out of COD or whatever doesn't mean that you should attain max rank in 24 hours or so. That would just be stupid.

Oh, and yeah, like someone posted above, I'm lvl. 21 also and I've spent about 7-8 hours into MP.

Ah yea, I was looking at the Service Record time, so perhaps it counted time when I was afk. Mistake on my part. Still have one complaint tho.. We should be able to play any game mode online regardless of rank.

I'm glad that the ranks take awhile to go through. I don't want to reach rank 50 and then get bored.

You can reboot(crysis version of prestige mode) once you hit 50 max and you get some cool stuff

That is the whole point of the pro sub-gametype...

Pro is understandable, but to not let me select the modes such as playing with no suit and whatnot, kinda stupid.

It's not that bad.

I've put in somewhere between 6-8 hours and am almost at level 14. If you want to see a slow grind, check out either Battlefield: Bad Company 2 or Goldeneye Wii.

In BC 2, I've put in over 24 hours and am around level 14 or 15; for Goldeneye Wii, I've put in around 12 hours and am level 13 or 14.

In a few hours I passed from 27 to 28. I don't think it's super slow compared to Halo: Reach or BF: BC2.
