3D OPTIONS greyed out??

Post » Sat Sep 05, 2009 11:04 pm

I just got the game through steam, and i was planning on playing it in 3D with my interlaced 3D screen.
Though when trying to enable it, i found out that the option is greyed out and locked!?

is this normal?
do i need to tweak a config file?
is this locked with DX11 for a later update?

can anyone tell me whats going on?

Ill probably have to rely on the (sub par) IZ3D drivers for now i guess... :(

I already played halfway through in 2D, i wont have the time to complete it twice, i am really dissapointed that 2 of the 3D PCgaming's most "common" monitors (iz3D and Zalman) are not recognised.

The most "frustrating" thing of all is the fact that it does support a CryEngine3 managed interlaced or dualhead or sidebyside, though for some reason someone at crytek thought it was a good idea to lock the menu if no "3D" drivers were detected (excluding the IZ3D or AMD drivers)

I tried IZ3D drivers, but they show too much artefacts, and unlike Crysis1/Warhead i cant "disable" the individual elements that cause the visual mishaps.

Crytek has really disapointed me with this... i was looking forward to playing this game in 3D, but first after a 2 hour delay after launchtime because of trying to figure out what is wrong and trying to fix it (without succes even). I have to play the game in its 2D mode...

Ofc the game itself is fine, and the graphics look dandy... but not 3D...

Masterdid, as you have said... the Zalman screen is a Halfresolution screen.
The CryEngine should be able to output it just fine, the problem is that the option is locked out.
Also i facepalmed after hearing the same idiotic "did you update your drivers?" suggestion... Thats the first thing i did... after making sure my computer was plugged in...

The whole "sellingpoint" of the CryEngine3 was that it didnt need special S3D drivers to come up with a interlaced 3D view. (and also sidebyside or dualhead)

The engine should even be able to project a 3D interlaced image on any normal screen (even though it would be pointless).

So the suggestion that it needs a "3DTelevision" is bogus, any 3D screen (and even 2D screen) should be able to display a interlaced view.

Compare it to Youtube3D, you can go and view a youtube3D video with settings to interlaced, eventhough you have no S3D drivers and no 3D screen. It would just look weird, thats all...

But from what i've seen/read crytek wants to avoid any picture looking "weird" even though the monitor could be a Zalman 3D monitor... the engine cant see if you are using a interlaced screen, thats what users with some experience are for...

This is absolute ****.

I know for a fact that the engine can output side by side 3d on ANY monitor. Forums discussing the leaked version said it was in and worked.

The PRIMARY reason for getting this game was to play in 3d on my new 3d plasma. The aforementioned forums specifically mentioned my TV as being one of the models that worked.

Totally unacceptable. In my opinion it is false advertising.

Yeah, the leak ran 3D fine. I think whoever at CryTek leaked the game because they wanted PC gamers to see the quality difference between the leak and the final release. Surprisingly, the leak is better than the final release, as we can all see here with 3D options being mysteriously grayed out for no reason.

Would it be possible to transplant the specific file from the beta that is responsible for the (un)locked menu.
As a makeshift fix?

Also what file would that be?
