The fate of Col Autumn?

Post » Sat Apr 02, 2011 1:04 am

Im sure someone else has already asked this but what happened to the Col of the Enclave? Did he die or did the main character persuade him to just walk away?

Either. As for what the "canon" choice is, unless Bethesda decides to reference this in a later game they never have to decide that.

You can either convince him to give up, or kill him. Afterwards, I don't know where he goes.

Well, the "good" endings were canon in the other games, so I would think that if that's the case here then he walked away.

I let him walk away. I'm sure he was turned into a pile of goo by the idiot BoS guys outside though. So I believe whatever way you choose to do it. He most likely meets his maker in the end.

Exactly what I was going to say. Sarah could have radioed to the other Brotherhood soldiers that he was to be allowed to leave; but she didn't do so. Therefore he is unlikely to have survived, even if he made it to his Vertibird; with Liberty Prime standing out there, it would have been destroyed as soon as he saw it.

Actually what happens to Autumn is simpler than that. He merely walks to the door to the outside and stops.

If you're on PC, go to the exit of the Taft Tunnels and use the console to break in and go back through that way. You'll eventually come out at the Purifier. Only, this is the version of the purifier that exists for Take It Back!, not the one that exists in the normal wasteland. Do NOT go back into the rotunda, it will eventually explode. Head back towards the exit, you'll see him and his two guards, all friendly, just standing there.

I didn't try to engage in dialogue, so I'm not sure if that works or not.

That doesn't mean anything. That's just game mechanics -- you can't actually say that's what happened to Col Autumn.

In any case, I don't think we'll know until canon sources say something. Personally, I hope he survived -- Autumn is a great man, with the heart of a lion... the guy truly wants to restore America to greatness, but he goes about it realistically. If he became president, the USA would have been reborn. Hmmmm...

I always let him live.

I convinced him to give up, but I still killed him because I wanted his suit.

I put on the CSS and sneak in before triggering "Take it Back"...then RPP a different outfit and gun onto him then take his outfit and laser pistol. That way I can have the stuff without killing him. As long as you don't come out of sneak mode you can get in and out easily. Hard part is finding a way past the fence.

He probably got stomped by Liberty Prime, though (even though I don't like the Enclave) this thread's made me want to try out http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6445 mod. :)

*slaps*

Have you ever tried talking to him? He's actually quite a nice guy, with very noble goals. He's not like Eden who will only let the creme de la creme live on American soil; he just wants a better world.

Yeah, he has temper issues and he shoots the LW at Raven Rock if you give him the code, but can you really take that personally? Let's be honest, that's the smart thing to do considering there's a big chance that the LW will try and stop him afterwards.

Autumn is, quite simply, the man America needs in the Fallout times. :flamethrower:

I am sure that he will be a main character in Fallout IV

If you play Fallout 4 on the same Console or PC that you playing Fallout 3 on, Fallout 4 should take all the information you did and apply it in Fallout 4. I'm not saying to add your character and stuff to Fallout 4, but let's say you didn't kill the President, then he'll show up sometime in Fallout 4, or whatever. And if you did kill the president, then he would be dead in Fallout 4, lol. Same thing applies to the Colonel. That's what they should do with Fallout 4, but if you didn't play Fallout 3 on the same console or PC, then it would have a pre-set storyline. That would be cool.

P.S. I never knew you could persuade Colonel Automn to walk away... everytime I asked he would say, "No.". =\

I assume he survives. He probably knows that the outside is full of Brotherhood soldiers, and we never hear of him being found dead anywhere (I'm sure Lyons would later comment on that). He would have to be pretty stupid to just walk out of the door, so he could have taken an alternative route outside. Maybe he even went through the taft tunnels, and escaped through there, since the Citadel is empty at the time of the invasion so he could not have been intercepted by Brotherhood soldiers.

James with Rivet City scientists help and of course the mighty Brotherhood of Steel with the Lone Wanderer at the end enable the purifyer to work and it is they who are acting in the interests of the good american people.

Autumn is an evil killer and after his murderous rampage had the opportunity to do something with the purifyer and did nothing (if he had then I could understand why people might think he's a good guy).

And I'm not convinced he has the brains to escape, remember he took orders from a computer ;)

Of course he couldn't do much; he didn't have the code. And I'm sure the Enclave would have figured it out eventually.

Are you serious? That's a ZAX supercomputer! A computer that became self aware and due to lack of human emotions (to a large extent) he's more fit for the job than anyone (even if I disagree with his methods). The ZAX was the president -- he didn't have a choice, really. And actually, he didn't take orders from Eden -- he disobeyed him and ordered his troops to attack, and if Autumn had been successful, he would have probably made his own Enclave, or if Eden died, become president.

I don't think he died, either, as it more than likely would have been reported.

Autumn is an excellent villain, I must admit. I really hate him. If he weren't as well done, I don't think my emotions about him would run so high. If the "canon" character always did the right/good thing, then he probably would have let Autumn go, and they never do tell us his fate. So, the door is open for him to show up again in some future game. Dammit all. Now I'll have to kill him all over again!

I think the best villains are the ones you love to hate. The one that immediately comes to mind is Archibald Cunningham in "Rob Roy".
