The biggest issue with prone in Crysis and Wars was the inconsistencies between 1st and 3rd person animations. In 1st person you could get up and start moving, even melee all before the 3rd person anim finished getting up. So in multiplayer, someone could lay prone and then get up and punch you and you would see them still in the same place and on the ground. Also, in 1st person you can almost immediately drop to prone, while in 3rd person it takes longer. So if you run up to low cover and drop to prone, you think you're safe right? Wrong. You may see yourself behind cover, but your model in 3rd person was still in the process of laying down. With the addition of lag, it only made it worse.
Here's hoping all 1st and 3rd person animations are synced in Crysis 2.
