I don't see a reason NOT to have prone, in singleplayer at least.

Then as a last resort, if only, make prone available for Sp and not for MP.
Just a theory :)

people cried a whole lot more before FC2 and BC2 was released for a prone, and got no where. i don't see crytek doing plenty of things the community wants, so i don't see them doing this one if they have been set on removing it. the weird thing is how only the cod games, that are created now for consoles in mind, does keep it!! LOL yet the other fps's reasons for not are that people cannot see proners on a regular tv very well.

prone is highly annoying when people use it all he time when they see som1. Maybe they could include it but make it so u can't shoot for a second or two afterwards. TBH though that would only leave it as a way for people to camp, so, just leave it out.

This could be done, but it would make game play a little dull.

I say leave the damn game alone... Stop dumbing it down for all the console users, And you all know thats true and that is whats happening to it. Crysis graphics were class A... Compared to anything out there at the time. Wars got dumbed down alittle, Lost some foot animation... When you turned around you looked like you spun on a plate no animation at all Jeeshhh. Weapons were all jacked, graphics lost alot of what they used to be... Class B as far as Im concerned. Now no prone... Come On!!! When your against another nanosuit player with a bit of skill you need any edge you can get period. Me and my team often joke while playing Battle Field Bad Company 2... "If I just had my nanosuit this would be a blood bath". I hope Crysis 2 dosen't loose it's freedom of movment it has had so far unlike many other games out there.

Leave it alone... If a change is to be made... give it more... not take away.

So much guts, might be a reasonable thing to consider. But all decisions must go thru the Devs or Major voting scheme. Whatever works.

Been playing the Crysis 2 demo the last week or so. I rather enjoy it; it's not Crytek UK's greatest work (TimeSplitters is still the top multiplayer FPS), but it beats the heck out of any current gen shooter I've play thus far. As far as prone goes, I feel leaving it out was a great decision. Leaving prone out helps keep the game fast-paced, which I love. If you want to stay low and unnoticed, you can use the slide feature. It makes you just as low but keeps you moving fast and only lasts a couple seconds (though that's enough time to get the drop on somebody or sneak by a person unnoticed using a low wall or your cloak). So with the slide feature, you essentially get all the benefits out of going prone except for camping, and frankly, people camping ruins a match in my opinion.

Proning is useful in the first Crysis, and was not that cheap because you had to find the "Z" key to do it. The climbing, jumping and sliding abilities in Crysis 2 give enough tactical advantage to game play. we don't need to give noobs the ability to "stop drop" in this game too!

"DICE removed prone based on the notion that they didn't want to see half the team perched up on the top of a mountain sniping from the prone position"

I loled. This EXACT thing happens on almost every map with mountains, minus the "prone position" thing. but thanks to being a console port...the viewing scale even on max svcks without scopes and there are certain spots where snipers can snipe without people seeing them unless also a sniper.

PETITION FOR PRONE! You can slide, you can super jump, you can smash the ground, you can go invisible, but you can't lie down on the ground? Something is wrong with that.

never understood why the battlefield developers couldnt just have made a delay between standing - crouch - prone.

or made it a stage process which meant you couldnt dive but still retained prone. The whole thing is up in the air and people like to find anyway they can to moan about a game, worm glitching was the Phenomenon on the console version of BF2 and personally I believed it was just people making an excuse for their bad aim, i missed people at times aswell although I can admitt to that alot of people cant bring themselves to admitt it was their own gaming ability.

Didnt find dolphin diving a problem on PC either......didnt make them harder to kill for me at least, just predicted were they would be and bang.....job done.

I am very surprised this thread is still alive, but it does make me happy to see that support for prone still exists from some of the community.

Even Battlefield 3 has prone again Crytek... Can we get it in Crysis 2, PLEASE? ;) It will make the gameplay so much better if you up the players to 8v8 and add prone.

The biggest issue with prone in Crysis and Wars was the inconsistencies between 1st and 3rd person animations. In 1st person you could get up and start moving, even melee all before the 3rd person anim finished getting up. So in multiplayer, someone could lay prone and then get up and punch you and you would see them still in the same place and on the ground. Also, in 1st person you can almost immediately drop to prone, while in 3rd person it takes longer. So if you run up to low cover and drop to prone, you think you're safe right? Wrong. You may see yourself behind cover, but your model in 3rd person was still in the process of laying down. With the addition of lag, it only made it worse.

Here's hoping all 1st and 3rd person animations are synced in Crysis 2.
