Game lets you think you could combine portions of main quests into 1 but you can't. That would make for a much better game. Its too structured, you are more limited as what your goals are. I actually attempted in my 2nd play through to unite everyone. All was going well until I took 1 step too much on 1 path and all the rest failed.
I had eliminated the Great Khans and the Powder Gang but they still were around after I completed the main quest, both times.
I have no real interest in further exploration of FONV.
In Fallout 3 you could continue from where you completed the main quest, but not in Fallout New Vegas. Some quest I could not even start for some reason. For example I found Veronica and had asked here to join me. For some reason I could not get here. Also, if you have Rex with you, you can't use ED-E. Also I could not do any of the ED-E side quests.
I bought a Prima game guide but even with that I was not able to do some quests even I had met all requirements. Perhaps too many options, with too few paths to take. You are forced to take 1 of several distinct and paths to complete the game. No detours allowed. That is a fail imo.
