Story Questions (Warning: Major Spoilers Inside)

Post » Mon Sep 28, 2009 2:32 pm

I never played the first Crysis seeing how it was on the PC and I got out of that a long time ago. Although from what I've read I have a good idea of the events of the first game. What makes me confused about the first game is a few things. Firstly, the C.E.L.L - Why are they after you? After prophet? Are they not part of Crynet? The same company that made the Nano-Suit?

And lastly the ending cutscene, why does Alcatraz respond to the scottish guy saying, "They call me... Prophet"?

Also any info on Prophet himself from the first game would be helpful. I know he was your squad leader but whatever happened to Nomad? Why is Prophet infected to the point where he had to kill himself?

Thanks for any info guys.

Here's what I think:

CELL are some kind of splinter group used by the US Government to intially prevent or calm the protests. They go after you because they think that you're some kind of biohazardous threat to the people of New York.

The reason that he says: "They call me... Prophet", is because the nanosuit that Alcatraz is wearing has a system based around prophet, in other words it's as if prophet is still alive in AI form within the suit...

They thought u woz prophet and had the alien virus thingy.

They think that, when they find out you're Alcopops, you've already killed too much, and they just want revenge after that.

And the DNA of prophet from the suit was infused or something into alcatraz, as you were pretty much dead and needed some genetic codes from soneone who was in the suit longer, in order to survive or something.

Long story short: Nanosuit 2 hacks life

I'm pretty sure the person talking to you in the ending cutscene is German. Is he someone from the first Crysis game?

He gives his name as Rasch, obviously the second half of the "Hargreave-Rasch" corporation (of which Crynet is a subsidiary company)

CELL appear to be a private security section, a sort of "army-for-hire". Some are even ex-US military (as heard through dialog in Grand Central) who have "gone private" for the pay. They are after you because they believe you are Prophet, whom they have orders to capture (and many have developed a more personal vendetta against him, much like their boss Lockhart). It's made quite clear that Lockhart and his men don't care to listen to Hargreaves' orders, as he refused to listen to Strickland.

All you really need to know of the first game is this: an experimental nano-suit team was deployed under the supposed orders of rescuing a group of researchers trapped on Korean-occupied Lingshan island. However, there they met a race of aliens (the Cephs) whose presence on Earth actually pre-dated humanity by ~2 million years, and "awakened" them. Attempts to destroy the Cephs failed, and near the end of the game Prophet (part of the nano-suit team) leaves, claiming to be returning to Lingshan. (It's also interesting to note that Prophet himself dispappeared for a good portion of the game, captured by Ceph scouts, and when you next see him he has managed to make a weapon from Ceph tech, perhaps indicating that he has more knowledge on the aliens than he tells Nomad)

Now the aliens appear to be mounting world-wide "cleansing" of the human "pest", much like a mold that has grown in their "summer home" while they were away.

Alcatraz essentially "died" in the beginning, and was only kept alive because the suit integrated with his own living tissue in a symbiotic relationship. Prophet had become infected after traveling to the Ceph center of activity in Manhattan, and needed a new, uninfected body to "pilot" the suit. His memories were still within the nano-layers and thus Alcatraz slowly gains access to Prophet's consciousness, and I suppose in the end becomes the new "Prophet".

No Prophet was part of the Military/Government Funded Team.
Prophet Went AWOL and became a Fugitive and the CELL were ordered to kill him(mainly Get the nano suit) Then Hargreave Said to Capture him ALIVE but the the CELL and there Leader(Forgot his name) (That one dude who decks you in the face when your down) Refuse Not, not to kill you but are stopped right before they did. So then the CELL are Demoted to E-1 w/ no Clearance and are in Custody.

-----Anyways prophet went AWOL Because he found out Hargreave Knew the Ceph where there but the Raptor team was like a Test to see how Human Technology Can compete W/ the Cephs. So Prophet Got mad left to find a way to defeat the Ceph found out how but his DNA was Exposed to too much Ceph Virus Before the nano Suit could Become immune and make a "Cure" He knew he was dying but was trying to last as long as he could to share the "cure" but then found Alcatraz and gave him the Nano suit W/ the Partial Cure. everyone Else thinks its still Prophet till the End. But The Real Prophets DNA and memories are one W/ the suite so in time (by the end of the game) Prophet and Alcatraz are One, So Alcatraz takes the name "Prophet".

-------**** EPIC game! Great Ending.
I Think Crysis 3 will Be the Timeline Between 1&2 and we will find out what happend to Nomad and Psycho!
Also I think Nomads Suit was in Hargreave's Room where all the 4 nano suits(Rite before the Ceph Came in and the building Exploded) were wasn't it? Or am I mistaken?

CELL are just there to contain the biohazards by any means necessary even killing your fellow marines and citizens to contain the biohazard. Prophet went **** or something and killed a bunch of CELL operators (during the opening credits). Lockhart uses that as an excuse to get rid of prophet as a vendetta

You are dead on the money on the prophet AI suit thing......

I thought that CELL were working for Hargreave in the beginning. Didn't he want the suit, because he had originally planned to perform Alcatraz's role at the end of the game? So, he ordered CELL to apprehend Prophet, confiscate the suit and return it to him. Right?

As the game progresses, things get out of hand as Alcatraz is made to follow a bunch of other orders involving marine support, biohazard control, and maybe some more, but I can't remember. Hargreave reasons that Alcatraz may as well be the one to carry out his plan for the suit (using it to turn the anti-human virus into an anti-ceph virus). At this point, he orders his CELL soldiers to back off of Alcatraz (during that level where you enter his building to go up to the 11th floor). The CELL soldiers tell him to svck it, because by this point you've killed a bunch of their buddies and they're cranky about it. Or, they think you're Prophet, who also killed a bunch of their buddies, and they're still cranky about it.

Random cool thing about this story: Alcatraz and the Ceph are both completely useless without their technological suits, but they are the ones having the epic battle while normal human soldiers are slaughtered. Think about it: Alcatraz is a zombie, so he'd just have super bleeding powers without his suit on. The Ceph, on the other hand, are just water balloons with faces painted on the fronts. Take them out of their suits, and they'd probably just pop. But they and Alcatraz completely rule because they're wearing nanosuits and exoskeletons. Speaks a lot for the power of technological augmentation.

He's not really an AI for say Its more like His DNA(thoughts and Memories) is on with the Suit(which is symbiotic), You can say he's an AI but not really. Play Crysis 1 or watch the Cut scenes for it.

Adding to and supporting some of the above explanations:
I think it was clarified later in the Crysys2 story that CELL, as mercenary as they may be, were working for Hargreaves. Hargreaves hired Lockhart be their boss. Their main goal in the story as it applied to Prophet was indeed to recover the NanoSuit no matter who was in it, and no matter if he was dead or alive. Lockhart was so mad that Prophet/Alcatraz was killing so many of his men that he became obsessed with killing him. . . Even though he was stopped from killing Alcatraz when he first had the chance by the undercover CIA op chick. . . bottom line - that led me to believe that the US Govt was not in bed with CELL , nor was it trying to kill Alcatraz, but rather keep him alive and use him.

Lockhart Claimed to answer to another while the CIA chick answered to Hargreave in "road Rage".
Lockhart was in the Military and Leading a group of mercenaries(CELL) Which are later demoted and in custody by Hargreave.

Yes the CIA chick was answering to Hargreave, but she revealed that she was undercover and had been infiltrating Hargreave's operation for a couple of years. After Hargreave and Lockheart are gone to their final graves, her protection of Alcatraz pays off as she uses him just as the last chance Hargreave said that he was . . . to save the world.

In my case, i think Alcatraz no longer exist has a humain being...
At the end he is just a body for the nanosuit who has Prophet AI and motivations.
Alcatraz has been assimilated all the story long because he was dying. The more he was dying, the more the suit was taking over to maintain the system active. In the spore tower in the end... the suit said "assimilation complete", which make as much sense as "They call me Prophet".

Would be nice to see some CO-OP in Crysis 3, with Nomad and Psycho as your allies then. Or like in COD, playing with the 3 different characters in different parts of the world.
