Small lags (input?)

Post » Fri Oct 02, 2009 3:36 pm

I'm experiencing small constant lags, anyone else have that issue? have been searching the steam/my crysis forums but i can't seem to find anyone who has the same problem.

My FPS is fine btw.

Yes. Personally, I think it could be caused by mouse smoothing being automatically switched on. And if it is, perhaps there is a command to switch it off? So even when you're getting fluctuating frame rates from 35-60 you'll get input lag unless it's 60fps all the time

I actually just solved my issue. It seems Xfire caused the problem. If you are using Xfire and having these issues, disable Xfire ingame support for this game, or just completely close it :)

I have the same issue...but it's only with KB/M. Playing with a gamepad is smooth, but I really would prefer to play this game with a mouse.
Anyway, it's not 100% constant, but whenever I look around slowly in a large area, it's like the world is whole screen is stuttering a little.
I'm on a single GPU (GTX570) and a solid processor (i7920 @ 4ghz) and only playing on "very high" so I keep a constant 60fps. Still, this seems to be an issue for me no matter what resolution or detail settings I'm using.

are you using Xfire, or any other program that might integrate itself with Crysis? have you tried disabling vsync?

No background programs at all...unless you count Steam, which I can't exactly disable. Disabling vsync changes the look of stutter a little, but isn't a real fix. Plus, screen tearing drives me nuts. I can't stand playing games without vsync.
My one other thought might be drivers. I've been using the last 2 beta Nvidia drivers optimized for Dragon Age 2. Is there a Crysis-specific driver floating around?

I don't think there is :/ But what you can do is try to update your DirectX (get the websetup from microsoft's page) and also install the latest official driver. A good idea would be to disable vsync, antialiasing and anistropic filtering, and see if the issue still persists.

Also updating sound drivers, chipset drivers and such is also recommended :) Personally i use Driver Genius Professional 2010 for these matters. Great app! it scans your systems and finds all the newest drivers for your computer.

I'm pretty anol about driver updates, so I'm in the clear there. I'm on the latest Nvidia betas, the latest Logitech SetPoint drivers, and I'm using my video card's HDMI-out for sound, so it comes bundled with the video driver.
Maybe the next Nvidia drivers will help out...or maybe there's an issue with SetPoint. That's the one item I haven't messed with, although I've never heard of an issue with it before.
If not - I'm at least passable with a gamepad, and the game is like silk when I'm using the 360 pad.

Actually.. my issues just returned for some reason. I closed all unnecessary background apps, and such, and now the problem seems pretty persistent :/ Small constant lags, but pretty notable an annoying. I tried to record it with Fraps, but then the game got completely laggy, and i couldn't even move around (recorded at 30 FPS).

Using the newest drivers for my system, on a newly installed Windows 7 64bit with SP1, with the latest DX installed. Is there really no one else experiencing these issues besides us?

Playing FPS games with a joypad? never fancied it :P but if it works for you, thats great! at least one of us got a working game.
