crysis 2 ps3 to use MLAA?

Post » Sat Oct 17, 2009 9:49 pm

since I'm expecting crysis to "push" ps3 to it limits wouldn't it be best to get something close to 16x AA at all? so do any of you think they will use MLAA like upcoming ps3 exclusives?

You guys who want to "push the limits", have you ever thought about getting a computer? I don't think some of you realize how much more a computer can do for about 3x the cost of a console. Plus, you can run all kinds of other programs, play movies and music, read books, comics, and pics, and surf the internet. I mean I'm pretty poor myself, but I really don't see the appeal of consoles.

Some people don't really want to buy anything extra, if they already own a console. Plus, PS3 has a library where you can store music/videos/pics, but really, that's it.

To answer your question, I don't see why not. It would be nice to have this, I believe God Of War has this.

If the console can handle the engine - yea, probably. But we already know Cryengine is a destroyer of worlds, so I doubt it.

Personally, I think everything was programmed with Xbox in mind as the weakest link. So, at least on the consoles, if Xbox can't do it, I doubt if it will be put in.

games never use AA on consoles, i saw a list once of almost all major titles of the last 2 years where they had the resolution and anti-aliasing. its either 720p or less, and 4xaa MAX. anti-aliasing isnt as important as resolution though, i say console players should pray that crytek doesnt in the end decide to go sub-HD like COD, halo and other AAA games repeatedly have done.

The Xbox 360 footage looked like it had 4xAA (2xAA?). It's probable that the PS3 will either have no AA at all or use QAA. I don't think they'll use MLAA, as MLAA is a bit tricky to get working efficiently, and it's not really effective for a game like Crysis.

AA tends to eat up a ton of resources, so I doubt it will be excessive. My guess is that it will not be used, as resolution is more important. Crytek isn't magicians, they can't give the consoles i7 processors @ 4GHz and a GTX480. The consoles run on five year old hardware...so probably not. Barely anyone uses AA on even top notch computers for Crysis because it eats your frame rate like there is no tomorrow.

Resolution is more important anyway.
