What EXACTLY does the gauss attachment do?

Post » Thu Oct 22, 2009 10:55 am

I've seen many half answers. I just want the low down. What does it do when I put it on my SCAR? Does it slow people down? Drain there energy? Is it a secondary gun? I can't seem to tell. If you know EXACTLY what it does please let me know.

Thanks

Apart from svck gratuitous amounts of ...... Anyways it seems to make them lose energy and one shot if they are out of armor kills. It fires a little weirdly tho and can be hard to aim. Mind you its definitely better then the gl or shotgun i don't think its better then extended mags.

Well hes right for the most part, it does drain their energy but its mostly used for long distance killing of snipers. Its very accurate and will kill instantly if their shields are down. Also extra hint, use the gauss attachment on ceph gunships and they will go down in 3 shots every time. Id mainly just save a class just set up for that. But being slow rate of fire as it is and hard to use close range, id save it for only when u need it. p.s. you dont need to use the gauss attachment itself to count kills for it, just have it on ur gun and any kills u get with ur gun counts towards your kills for it.

I completed the challenges for it and didn't even know I had equipped it. I never used it the whole time it was on my gun. Then I finally went to use it to see what it does and could not immediately decide how best to use it so I put it away. Challenge was already complete so I put on extended mags.

The Gauss attachment acts as a sniper bullet and drains enemy shields when hit. It does seem to have "some" splash damage but it is very miniscule.

The best way to use it is as an attachment to a DMR SCAR for counter-sniping when pinned down. It's a wonderful one-shot-kill weapon against any snipers who think they're going to go into stealth.

I guess I never get pinned down by snipers to think to use it that way. I usually just cloak and go kill the sniper with my primary weapon. It sounds effective the way you described as well.

Occasionally I get pinned down by a party of "leet" players who believe skill is using a Sniper + Cloak. My team normally draws their attention and, using DMR SCAR/Gauss + Visor Enhance (highlight enemies), you can get some pretty nice anti-sniper kills while still maintaining decent mid-range support.

It's a skill I picked up from Bad Company 2 and the ACOG/SVU combo for DMR scenarios.

I'm going to try it out tonight for sure.

I have killed people with this attachment up close with one shot... but at a distance the accuracy is horrible.
