The Norther passage leads to the big empty?

Post » Fri Oct 23, 2009 3:57 pm

So I went to the northern passage while exploring. The northern Passage is usually blocked by rocks but sometimes the blockage preventing access will be removed when fast traveling to the area, opening up a passage lined with lanterns leading only to a exit with the option "Exit to the Mojave Wasteland", which does nothing when selected, possibly meaning that this area will be used as an access point for a future DLC the big empty. I mean people say the Big Empty is in the north so this has to be it right?

Considering it goes NORTH, I'd imagine it to be the way to New Canaan, which the game make a big hint we'll be visiting it.

When I first found it, I thought it was more like that door you return through after destroying the Enclave radar station in Broken Steel (not the mobile platform, the one where Liberty Prime falls).

Nice find, im suprised that no one have fount it yet :)

It's been posted all over the place.

Both New Canaan and the Big Empty (Big Mountain) are close together. This could lead to both. Problem is, if that tunnel is supposed to be the 150+ miles it takes to get to Springdale, I'll be pissed. That would be ridiculous on many levels.

New Canaan (Springdale), would likely be located at the very top (north) of the map. Still its not 150 miles, but at least you don't pop in right at the town center.

Edit; Never know, they might extend the map northwards to give the feel of having to travel some more. Sorta like Point Lookout, you enter a new zone and you're on a new map.

I would count on it being a separate worldspace. But the tunnel would transport you there, presumably. I'm hoping that the tunnel is just a transition and 2 in-game weeks pass to account for the travel time.

This one does seem like a separate worldspace. There is the other one though, lonesome road if I remember on the west side, that seems to open up at least 2/3 of the empty space on the west side. So that one seems more like the same world space, which is nice.

The Abandoned BoS Bunker was in the vanilla game.

so far it can be speculated that some of the absurdly uselss areas on the edges of the map (Northern passage, canyon wreckage) will lead to future DLC. As stated before, the Abandoned BoS bunker was already ingame, so for all we know, they could use more ingame areas as placeholders until the DLC itself is done.

No. Both the BoS bunker and the Northern Passage were in the game from the get-go.

These little DLC hooks were found months back. Still, cookie to the OP for the effort. Ulysses and Graham both seem like interesting characters. While they stand no candle overall against Fallout 1's team and writing Obsidians proved that they can create a pretty gripping story wirh Dead Money. Question is if they succeed with these two characters they're hyping along with the actual areas and gameplay itself. All without many bu-ahahahahahahahaha. *Wipes tear from eye* Anyways.
