Sniper VS SMG

Post » Sat Oct 24, 2009 6:37 am

Im trying to find out if the range of the feline can really be considered a "weakness" of that weapon. Acording the the weapon ratings the Feline has 9 out of 20 range points and the sniper rifle has 19/20. Now I have seen people with the sniper rifle shoot clear accross the lighthouse map which in real life (how accurate can I really be here) is about idk a mile. So if the feline has about half of the range of the sniper and that is half a mile than is there really a need to use a different weapon considering that imo most of crysis 2 multiplayer is played within 50ft of your opponent?

Just some food for thought.

The stoping power of both snipers is way higher then the feline. (However I'd only suggest the dsg due to it's more combat effective nature) The fact that sniper bullets always go straight and are nearly instantaneous make them the much better choice over the feline in any mid-long encounter. If you take into account that you only need 1 headshot to drop someone from the rifles you might think differently about sniper v smg.

Are you sure Sniper can kill someone with 1 headshot in Standard/Pro mode? I know that in Classic it works for sure, but I've come across atleast 10 times now that I've shot people right in the head with a Sniper and they did NOT die. Armor mode perhaps? I doubt every single time I was facing Armor -_-

It always drop them on the headshot, sometimes you do have to have a tiny lead time, it also has to be precise. It can look like it might have been a headshot but you might have nicked their shoulder or something else that got in the way. Sometimes ping can also play some fishy issues but typically I find that if I'm shooting for the head I'm either missing or hitting, not often do bullets go through their head without a kill.

I have the same issue with DSG-1 and hs. Sometimes it doesn't instakill when the enemy is in armor mode.

I prefer the Gauss. Larger clip, firing rate is only slightly slower but the Gauss is a guaranteed 2 shot kill, 1 shot if you hit head or chest. It ignores armor, so armor is no worry.

Feline seriously needs to have its range dropped though/spread increased over distance. I have been "sniped" by a feline numerous times long range. Should. Not. Happen. Period. Bullets shouldn't even hit.

Imma try that load out with the DSG-1 though. It looks bad ass. What explosive you use?

Frag Grenade, because Flash Grenade is way too situational and JAW is a bugged-out piece of **** that doesn't even explode half the time.

I have run into bugs with the JAW not exploding occasionally, but usually it doesn't explode as not to kill you (that's how it's meant to work ;-))

Are you firing at a target with in 15 meters? It will not work because of balancing 'safety mode' built in that does not allow it to detonate if its in that radius.. You got to use it at longer ranges.
Also flash bang with Visor enhancer equals lots of easy kills if you have a scar.
