Why no references to Dune?

Think about it: A huge power-struggle going on in a desert filled with brutal factions, Sci-Fi weaponry, a huge gap between the rich and poor, shortages of everything necessary to live...the potential for some solid allusions is there.

Who wouldn't want a stillsuit (bodysuits that catch and filter all moisture from your body, filter it, and store it in catfchpockets for drinking later that use your motion and breathing as the only power source for pumping) for crossing the Mojave in hardcoe mode? How about having to place thumpers (devices that pound the ground rhythmically) in careful locations to get across certain sections of the map where huge enemies will come up out of the sand and devour you when they sense your footsteps? Not even any "the spice must flow" graffiti, or a rare, expensive campfire ingredient called "melange"?

Come on, guys, unless I've missed something, there are a lot of wasted opportunities in New Vegas for perfect references.

Because if video gams decided to 'Put references to things similiar to OUR products, games would only be one entire easter egg.
