Action Movie Style Foibles!

As much as I miss the more tactical and open ended nature of the first Crysis, I am still having an alright time with the game. While I sit in darkness waiting for some issues to be resolved with corrupted login accounts, I thought I would post up a thread to discuss something fun and silly about the game to take a slight break from being dour and serious.

One thing I enjoy doing with silly action movies is picking apart the little things about what is happening that we generally take for granted, but would be ludicrous in reality. Crysis 2 definitely has these, so I thought why not have a spot where we can poke at them in fun.

The one big one that I've noticed so far has to do with power. I'm nearing the last few levels of the game, and the city is entering even greater and grander levels of destruction with each setting. What confuses me is how ANY part of the city still has POWER! There are entire blocks that have dropped 15 stories into the earth, and there are omnipresent tremors and explosions, but somehow... those public statues still have lamps lighting them up... or convenience stores still have working freezers.

For anyone familiar with the James Burke series "Connections", might remember the first episode titled "The Trigger Effect" which talked about a major New York blackout that happened in 1965. It happened because one machine at a power station moved a very small piece of metal a quarter of an inch when it shouldn't have.

Apparently society is *very* advanced in 2023. ;)

If you look at the top of the lamp posts, the have solar panels. Could explain statue lights. Or by 2023 we have the most amazing led/battery combo. Ha ha.

Maybe... just maybe. Perhaps that's how the high rises are getting power to those giant neon signs on the top of their bombed out buildings as well! ;)
