Nano Edition questions

Post » Wed Nov 04, 2009 12:22 pm

Hello!
I'm still unsure whether to get the limited edition or the nano edition. The nano edition is quite expensive but it's a good way to support Crytek and I'm also very interested in the art-book. I have some questions that could make the decision easier for me.

1.Could you please give some more info about the artbook. For example:

-How many pages is it? Some say it's more than 150, others say 176 pages.

- Does the artbook contain comments and art from both the singleplayer part and the multiplayer part?
If it does, how is it split? More singleplayer than multiplayer or the other way around?

- Does it contain step-by-step sketches with comments on the progress?
And comments about problems that arised during the making and how they were dealt with?

- What are the dimensions of the art book?

2. The multiplayer part will probably be locked to the EA account one uses to registrate the game with, but will the singleplayer part also require some kind of EA account activation or only simple online check?

Thank you!

unless you plan to import, your choice is easy. Nano edition is sold out (in the US).

Well I don't live in the U.S. I've just not changed the location status. I live in Europe and there's plenty of Nano editions left it seems but thank you anyway.

If the questions can't be answered for some reason, I would appreciate it if it could be told so to me. I mainly visit this forum for these questions, I'll be back to share my impressions on the multiplayer demo though.

I'm a huge fan of Crytek allthough I'm not that active in forums I always check up the latest news regarding games. In my opinion there's no developer like Crytek. CDProjekt Red comes close with The Witcher, they truly have a passion for making RPGs. So does Crytek but with FPS instead. What makes Crytek my favorite developer is that they make their game with passion but they also understand the importance of graphics. They push the graphics barrier for games further with every game they release. Best of all is probably the gameplay, open gameplay with amazing dynamical A.I. enabling the player to play creatively, plan tactics, try it out, play differently, take different paths. The A.I. isn't there to be killed, I mean they try to survive, they use tactics and advance towards you. So it is a challenging game in the way that you have to make decisions, and not that much about reflexes and so (but it can be if one wants to play that way, which is great for variation). Great games by an amazing game developer, thank you Crytek! Far Cry, Crysis, Warhead, amazing games!

The price difference between the limited edition and the nano edition where I live, is huge!
The nano edition costs four times more than the limited edition, it's true.
I remember when I bought the special edition of Crysis, that one didn't cost so much in comparasion.
The nano edition however has a lot more content than the special edition of Crysis, but I think it would have been better without the backpack and for a cheaper price. I need to save up if I want to be able to play Crysis 2 at highest, or so I think at least. I have a 4870 512mb Ati graphics card and a Intel Core 2 Duo 3,0Ghz, 4gb RAM. So on one hand I think the price for the limited edition is great but on the other I would really like to support Crytek with the nano edition. The price is however very high and the backpack I have no use for. The Alcatraz figurine sounds cool but it's the art-book that interests me the most. Since I like Crytek very much I would more than like to read their comments about the progress of the game and the art (I hope that it involves some of the level designs). It's a hard decision, but I guess I'll wait untill I'm sure : ).

Well... I have no idea about the art book, but you should really
Be interested in more than if your going to pay 4x more. I personally love the whole package, and after researching the company that's making the figure, am more excited than ever. Have u seen the detail in all their figures. They really don't look cheap at all (and there not)!

Yes I agree, the figure is very nice. I also went to the manufacturers web site (4Figures I think) and they look very detailed. 4x more is probably not worth it in my case, I guess I'm not interested enough about the rest of the content. Thanks for the help.

Nano edition pre-ordered, maximum support!

You are probably very stressed at Crytek, finishing the game and I guess that's why everything haven't gone according to plan (Dx11 patch for example) or at least why you haven't had the time to explain things. I think it's very hard for people to understand how hard it is to develop multiplatform and at the same time make the game look the best and play the best on each platform. Having a publisher that might set short dead-lines and limit what information you can share, can't help either. So I would like to say that you have my support, the nano edition is nice, but knowing that it's from Crytek makes it worth it.
