Will we see a companion patch?

Post » Thu Nov 19, 2009 6:11 am

I realize that with all the glitches Obsidian may not have time to patch it, and after 6 months they probably don't care but will there be another patch?

Since DLC is still coming shouldn't the game work properly. Just fix the game breaking ones and especially the companion glitches.

All they have to do is go to http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas_bugs and just fix all those bugs.

There are a lot but they could highlight the important ones and fix it. Why even fix exploits to get like infinite experience. If someone wants to ruin the game for themselves and it doesn't affect anybody else then I think there are more important fixes.

I agree fix the bugs and leave the exploits alone. I have to say though that for the most part i have not had much trouble with FONV or FO3 for that matter. I am not going to say bugs do not exist in the game just that i have not seen to many, and the ones i have i can not be completely sure if it is not my playing around with mods or console commands that has not broken the game. I just save often and if something happens i just reload and try something different. I had one time a bug where the game kept crashing at this one point, (picking a pocket on the strip) but all i did was reload and do something different then i returned to the area where the bug appeared a bit later and then i re-ran the area with no troubles.

I finally pick up New Vegas again get swamped by a horde of cazadores about 12-15 which crashes my game system at least six times. The worst part is when I beat them all Veronica died since there's a poison bug which was added in the 1.2 patch.

Yeah, I haven't seen too many terrible bugs but I went into that one vault where they elect the next "overseer" and right when I got the key I fell through the map into the underground chamber and couldn't get out since I hadn't unlocked the entrance. Had to reload far back enough that I started saving a lot. Also I have lost Rex and cannot find him. The companion one are the worst because they get lost and when I say return to the lucky 38 for some reason Boone used to go to the Legion place and Rex, I have no idea where he went.

Since an exploit is not part of the game design I still think it should be patched.

Needs to be said again....

Exploits, or glitches if you wish to call them that, are not intended programing behavior. Unintended programing behavior is a "bug". All bugs should be patched as they degrade the quality of the end product. This isn't hard to follow.

"Game Balance" on the other hand is a far more subjective matter. More so in a single player game.

Ok, I need to say this.....

It is known that there are a lot of "bugs" in FONewVegas. It is assumed, by me at least, that ALL "bugs" won't be patched. I mean, come on, they're going to perfectly fix a game that's already sold more than FO3??!! So, with that assumption we (the "gaming community") are forced to speculate, ruminate and opinionate upon which "bugs" should be fixed first, or which can be left alone without harming the game, or the enjoyment of the game (we should be specific, it's important).

Thusly, and with these assumptions carefully assumed, we (or "I", I don't want to put words in anyone's mouths......I don't know where they've been) can, with confidence, say that a "bug" which makes a companion vanish, should be fixed/patched/repaired/what-have-you before a "bug/glitch/exploit" which gives access to a lot of XP that doesn't affect the game unless the "player" searches it out purposefully.

Hmm, when I put it like that, maybe it's hard to follow? Nah.

Well, on the bright side. If an issue doesn't cause CTDs, or leads to other game breaking problems, it's highly unlikely it'll be fixed. Like in Oblivion and Fallout 3 it'll be the modders that finish the game. Not the original programing team as they cost money.

Then we get to go through the same thing again later on this year with Skyrim.

I agree with you 100% DOCHOLLIDAY

And if the modders finish the game then that means I wont be able to have the unbugged version (or any fun stuff they put in) on my xbox 360 because it doesn't support modding. Am I correct?

I'm patiently waiting for the next patch that will fix Boone because they broke him on the last patch...so there has to be a patch that fixes the patch. :)

I agree with you man. Simple fixes like that. I feel like if it's so obvious then they need to patch it.

Yeah, maybe this why there's no news on the DLC. Maybe they're fixing all the bugs on he list.

Obsidian has two groups, one that work on the DLC and one that works on the patches and I think it's Bethesda that handles the release information.
