Fallout New Vegas: the WORST ever!

Post » Sun Nov 22, 2009 7:37 am

Hi there!

First of all: I LOVE THIS GAME! This must be clear!

So, why I say that this is the worst: because I hope that someone at Bethesda read this and reflect on one thing: translation.

I'm Italian and here in Italy the game is available only in Italian and the translation is awful. Some examples:

- Driver Nephi: it's translated like "Pilota Nephi": they translates Driver as it was Pilot, Racer Driver.
- Many times when a NCP is talking the subtitles are different, sometimes completely different and gives you different information.
- The Long 15 is translated as "Lunga quindici": They translated the name and number of the road, but some NPC refer to is as "the long 15"!
- If you go to the Mojave Outpost, you must look for a "Maggiore Cavaliere". They translated the surname!

So please Bethesda, next time choose your translator better or let us choose the language to use in the game.

Thank you.

P.S.
I love Fallout, this was only a need to say what I was feeling about the translation that piratically ruined the Italian version!

Play the game in English, I can't imagine that the fact that you understand the game better makes up for the Italian voice actors

The problem is that you can not play in English!

It's a stupid limitation!

LOL!

Yep! Get back to old days when some games had hilarious typo, and improbable translation!

OP, can't you change the language in Steam? I have the UK version (although i'm hungarian) and i see the standard Multi5 languages.

Right click the game, go to Properties, and from there to the Language tab.

EDIT: Of course, this is assuming you play on PC.

What machine are you playing on? I've no idea about Xbox or PC, but if you're using the PS3, like me, then you can use any language version you want as all PS3 games are region free. I recently bought the French version of Fallout 3 and am playing that.

Hope that helps.

YEP! :(

The Italian version for PS3 is only in Italian.

You don't have a game menu where you can change the language, and if you put the PS3 in English, the game don't change: always Italian language.

I *REALLY* hope that someone can prove me wrong!

But I think I tried all the possible ways.

Did you miss my earlier post? You can have it in any language you like, but you have to buy that version of the disc. If you buy an Italian version, its all in Italian. If you buy the English version, it'll all be in English.

I have two working copies of Fallout 3 on the PS3 - one in French, one in English. Both work just fine. It'll be the same for New Vegas as well.

Thats why he's saying its in Italian. He bought an Italian version. You never said how to change an Italian version to English through the PS3. Buying another game is not advice.

I just wanted to point out that the TRANSLATION is awful.

I know that if you buy a English copy of the game it would be in English. The topic of how to change language arise because someone asked it. That's all!

I just want to stress that this time the translation is *BAD* and I hope that Bethesda next time would pay more attention to this aspect (i.e.. choose better translators or give them more info and time).

See you!
