Crysis 2 Procedural deformation/destruction requirements?

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2009 6:47 am

Simple question really; Does Cryengine 3 require certain specifications (Physx, dx11, newest GPU's etc) to "turn on" effects such as Deformation and destruction? Or can that be done in dx9/10 as well?

Thanks.

I believe that crysis 2 should follow suit of crysis 1 and run just fine on any graphics card that it at least DX9 capable (think geforce 8 series or higher or radeon 4000 series) including the Environmental Destruction Affects. Actually those (with exception to Physx which is nvidia proprietary stuff which can be accelerated on the GPU but still runs on CPU also) are ran on a Physics engine which is processed by the CPU....so a 3 core or higher processor with at least base speed of 2.6ghz (in case of intel i series) or 3.0ghz (in case of amd phenom or higher) will probably be all you need to run those fine. Multi core is the key here, since games are now taking advantage of multiple cores, the more the better.
