Cloak being colder? Should it be the other way around?

Post » Thu Dec 03, 2009 2:42 pm

As it stands right now; if I go in to Nano Vision, it is only a small amount of blue oppose to everything else where it is red.
Should it be the opposite of that since it requires more energy and should generate more heat or the use of more nano tech?
And if that would be possible to change, about how far and balance should Nano Vision when it changes?

I guess the theory behind their decision to make cloaking produce a lower IR signature is because:

1) It keeps balance- if it produced a larger signature, then people would simply switch to nanovision upon suspicion of cloaked enemies; rendering cloaking useless pretty much.

2) They might've based it on the theory that the nanosuit takes in energy from the surroundings when cloaking; an endothermic 'reaction', and so cloaked players will appear colder in signature.

Makes sense, but in turn, doesn't that make Nano Vision useless since it has a short range? I thought the whole point to nano vision is to see cloaked people?

Why use nanovision any way? Use your eyes...

I don't have trouble spotting people without nano vision.... Just seems to be weird that it is this way considering the whole "Nano Vision" thing

I hardly ever use Nanovision. I can see Cloaked enemies fairly well, and my Cloak Tracker helps.

Anyway I find cloaking broken. In the beta it used to be balanced because if you were fed up with all these invisible b*tches, you could use cloak tracker. Now, you can only see them when they enter cloak mode, and then they just need to sprint on 3 or 4 meters to lose you. DO NOT TELL ME THAT YOU HAVE SUPERMAN'S VISION THAT CAN TRACK ANY MOVEMENT ON YOUR SCREEN. It's a FACT: cloaking and running around is basically one of the best tactics in this game, since there is no real counter to it except having godlike reflexes/eyes. Again, in the beta cloaking was useful, but still balanced. Now, it is clearly superior to armor in on one-one situation. People do not even care about decloaking before firing, because they know they'll kill you before you get a chance to return fire...

Just like the melee system: "it was better before".
