Marshall Frustration :@

Post » Mon Dec 07, 2009 3:17 am

First up thanks for the patch. With alternative controls I no longer have to toggle between crouch / standing to also zoom in with the sniper!

Shame about the Retriever reset but if it means it'll work fine from now on then great, no idea what the rest of the patch updated though....

Anyway, on to my main point of this thread, the MARSHALL!

This gun is so, so, so frustrating...

One game you can one hit kill everyone you come across, rack up amazing triple kills and feel unstoppable and the next game you can put four shells in to someone who ISN'T in armor AND get hit markers and STILL have to melee them to finish them off.

It is SO frustrating to put a shell in to someones head when they are five metres away only for them to turn around and kill you with three bullets...

It's not the connection as it happens to me when I'm host and when I'm not...

Anyone else experiencing similar changes in fortune with this gun?

Is that the semi-auto or the pump action shotgun?

Hi I have not used the marshall, but I can say from my experience match to match has been inconsistent and head scratching. Like you said host or not, it does not matter. Hit detection can be great or awful.

It's the pump action one. Jackall is the full auto.

I feel that it is more powerful than the Jackall and seems to have a slightly longer range but if you don't kill them in the first shot (or second if they aren't looking at you) then it generally means you're dead :/

PS: Which is highly annoying when both your shots hit them when they're 5 metres away....

I was using the Jackal during my lunch break today (yes... I eat BK's for lunch) and I was having a blast with it in Impact.

Marshall is weird getting used to, though I find it to be a lot of fun, and I just always preferred pump action shotties to fully auto ones anyway. I find it's incredibly useful to have the Rapid Fire module while using it, by the way. Faster pumps between shots makes it far more effective.

Why even use shotgun when you can just use the scar.. its a shame that all guns are basically the same and shotguns get just shafted... the range svcks ass... i mean comone 10m and you do next to no damage?

What are they using.. salt shells? Even if i love using shotguns its not worth the hassel... its not even worth to use anything beside scar.. except when your sniping...

Cheers, I'll give this a go. Any idea if Silencer has any downsides except reduced mobility? As reduced damage or range would make it worthless...

I know it's far easier to just use the Scar / Scarab / Feline every game but sometimes I just like to try something different! Using your suit effectively with a shotgun on Crashsite can turn out alright. Also you can argue that instead of sniping a Scar + Assault Scope + Aim Enhance does the job just as well...

I can't speak about using the Marshall, I unlocked the L-Tag instead for maximum KABEEWMZ!

But anyway, the Jackal is chocolate covered rainbows smothered in awesome. I use stealth A LOT, and typically go for the assassination first and I've trained my eyes to see cloaked players with out the need of using a suit mod to do so. The shotgun is excellent for this play style.
