Will the PC version use GFWL?

Post » Mon Dec 07, 2009 9:55 am

will the PC version of crysis be used in games for windows LIVE? like GTA IV for PC how you can log into LIVE to see friends on xbox and pc, etc.

I am curious of this because on the previous crysis games it had it at the top but it didn't have LIVE support. Will it have it this time?

I hope not. they should keep the multiplayer/Server/Client aspects on the back/front end as they are, IMO. Gamespy over GfWL any day.
Toss in Co-op campaign mode though, of course ;)

If you wanna see what friends are online you and your friends should get a messenger client, then you can see when they are available without even having to sign into a game! :)

GfWL brings nothing to the table. :(

its just i want it to be GFWL because i want to be able to talk to my friends on the Xbox and get achievements and all that but i want to be able to play it on my PC rather than 360. I enjoy playing crysis on PC due to my PC being fairly powerful. I also dont want to play crysis with a controller

. I think it would be really cool for the PC and 360 players to be able to play together simultaneously.

That would be nice to have the cross platform servers!
Achievements would also be nice.

Nein! I am certain if they managed to get the editor working in all three without any trouble, they can get the multiplayer to work just fine without it. Besides, putting GFWL on it would increase the chance that they would use matchmaking- a horrible system, considering how much easier it is to hack the PC versions.

GFWL is generally abhorred by the serious PC gaming crowd anyways. (See: PC Gamer subscribers, and others)

I, for one think that GFWL would be a good idea, as long as it's an optional part. Cross-platform gameplay would be nice.
However, if that means transforming Crysis 2's MP into MW2 (but worse, since it would use Xbox/Games For Windows Live instead of steamworks)′I'll pass

Cross platform, imo, won't be happening. My reasoning behind this is because the 360 won't be as customizable in terms of controls. Mice have far better capabilities in terms of agility and speed, and it would leave the console players at a (perhaps even slight) disadvantage. Of course, This wouldn't apply to all gaming Genres.
They would basically need to put soft caps on things like mouse sensitivity and that would be a deal breaker for the PC players.
If I recall correctly I think shadow run was cross platform, and the controls for PC were modified to make sure things were evened out, needless to say the response wasn't favorable.

I have nothing against GFWL. But I must say that I am not pleased with Gamespy... So GFWL would be fine for me. Cross platform optionality would also be amazing between the PC and Xbox360 if done correctly. =)

As long as it doesn't have Gamespy or any retarded DRM that ends up destroying the game I'm cool with it. I kinda like GFWL tho, it doesn't use up much performance, and it makes hoppin into friends games very simple.

Never had a problem with GFWL. It's a pretty solid system from my usage experience and i also like having my game profile/info stored remotely so when i format i don't have to worry about it :)

Steam is a given. It's awesome.

And then GfWL makes you suffer in every other aspect. :)

Steam would be most ideal, but I'd rather have Gamespy than GfWL. Not that either is worthy of high praise.

Hope not,
I was locked out of my GTAIV MP in less than 2 weeks, I also lost my saved games.

and no STEAM please.

Release SP on one disk, and MP on another, just like Warhead and Wars.
it was perfect, excluding the patch "support" : Wars was killed before it's 1st B-day :(

there is little chance for me to invest in C2, so GFWL or STEAM will make my choice easier. -with no regrets :))

Given that Crysis is being sold on steam I'd assume that C2 will also come out on steam as well as the usual forms of release?

I'm not a fan of GFWL either. I had to make an account just to play RF:G and for 3 days it wouldn't sign in then eventually when it did, it said my account had been suspended due to payment problems. Dunno HTF that is possible on a free account where I have never bought anything.

1+ to steam though.
