Melee/fly swating when shooting

Post » Mon Dec 14, 2009 5:14 am

I have major issues in that when aiming at someone I will fire a bullet or two and then it melee's for no reason. It happens most games. Off person no problem walls windows etc. Changed melee over to o button, now I duck/squat. tried four other controllers same issues. I had the same problem with M.O.H. which was soon sent back, but do not have the issues with any other game C.O.D etc could it be E.A specific? Having 0.80 KDR is not very enjoyable.

i do this occasionally, it just happens.. when i am moving my right anolog stick, i involuntarily press the R3 button..

Yup, I reckon that's the issue. I've done it myself a few times..

Pressing down on R3 while shooting is easily done and you don't even notice. It is cool when you do it by accident and kill someone though.

Thanks but no definitely not depressing R3. As before no problems with MW2, B.OPS Homefront etc Only E.A games M.O.H and Crysis2. I can shoot at a wall moving R3 as if tracking a player and have no issues but as soon as I am aiming at an actual player 80% of the time it will Melee at a point unless it is an instant kill. Tried sniping with it switched with O button and was ducking behind walls after first shot most of the time. have notice the one comment on xbox with same issue and they just switched to O but when you then want to melee it becomes very hard to direct the attack and press O.

No u are pressing r3 , its stupidly sensitive beyond all reason. Jut change ur button layout
And problem vanishes. I had to change it as I kept doing same, it makes r3 crouch though and this isn't as easy to activate , but means u seem to duck slower than when action assigned to other button , but still prefer it anyway of week.

Yeah I'm with suarez. You may not think you're pressing R3 but all it takes is the slightest touch. This is extremely common in FPS especially when you get excited or are in a tense one-on-one firefight. There's a term for it but I can't recall what it is at the moment. I have FPS Freeks on my controller and if anything that makes it even worse! I do it in most shooters but R3 does seem to be overly sensitive in Crysis 2.

Played 3 games earlier, 1st game joined mid way just the 1 melee hitch. 2nd game no melee's and came top, 3rd game melee problem and got hammered. Definitely not pressing R3 does not happen in other games, Could it be down to connection / lag / latency ?

I would like to see this game implement an option Bungie added into Halo Reach, called "Clench Protection."

Basically, the game will only register stick clicks if they are tapped very rapidly. If you hold down or "clench" the button, it will not register. It doesn't sound too intuitive, but I'd say it remedied the problem about ninety percent of the time. Perhaps Crytek could add this option?

Nope, it nothing to do with lag, lag is just the fact that what ur seeing on screen isn't accurate representation of what the servers are recognising how the games playing ( the definitive version so to speak) , and ur veraion ia behind that. Seriously mate try swapping buttons, it's so so sensitive on this game I was convinced it was not me pressing it either, it's literally activated by me aiming , so I just swapped it.

You're definitely pressing R3, it's really quite sensitive and for some reason it still activates when aiming down sights. They need to deactivate the melee during ADS since the minority of the time I accidentally press R3 without realising and I end up dying myself because of it.

I should not have to swap out buttons, I have no issues in other games why should this game be any different. Also why does it only affect a few people? Don't figure. It ruins my gaming experience and you can not direct a melee with the buttons swapped out, don't mind the ducking whilst shooting part but a lot of kills in this game are from melee. Plus why can I go some games without any affect? As above posters video but I get it like most of the time and as you see instant death because of it.

ea did nothing! they are just publishers like activition, they wait for crytek to do their work, and thwn make ads and vids for the game and then sell it! lol and umm i thunk the patch did veeeeery minor fixing, well " it was almost worthless :) "

and i noticed that the framerate is now worse :S, please fix it crytek! along with matchmaking, host selection and low resolution for ps3 :'(

So this does affect a number of players !!! Some more than others, some no affect at all, any answers to why? At the end of the day the R3 button should need to be depressed till it ''clicks'' not just moved around surely? Cannot understand why some players are affected and not others. It happened to a clan member last night for the 1st time and he was lagging throughout the game don't figure?

man ur making hard work of this dude. its simple, some ppl accidentally press the stick too hard, whereas others are clearly better at not doing this, their hand coordination and control is better and more subtle.
Im one of the ppl who doesnt have this great coordination and subtle hand movements, so this affects me too. just change the buttons and stop whining about it lol its not a huge deal, ur not forced to cut ur leg off or anything, just change the buttons. everyone agrees this shouldnt be the case , but it is(at least for now, maybe they can patch this later), but ur making a huge issue out of nothing.

lag clearly is nothing to do with this at all, it technically has nothing to to with lag, so its impossible for lag to affect the melee button. End of story
