WTH? The game stopped working today. No one can help me.

I'm taking a summer course and part of the course work requires running disk emulation. My professor wants us to all run the same program, Daemon Tools, to emulate the disks. This way, everyone is on the same page while we work on this software. Removing this software is not an option.

I isntalled Daemon tools yesterday and today, Fallout 3 won't freaking run. Fallout has been installed and working...well...for over a year on this PC. I say well because we are all familiar with the irritating CTD's that we just have to live with. But now it's gone too far.

"Conflict with Emulation Software detected.
Please have a look at http://www.securom.com/message.asp?m=emu&c=2500 for further, more detailed information."

Yeah, that link said to patch my software. Did that months ago when the latest patch came out. I installed their little spy program that searched my PC, and it said...no solution is available.

First off, to Bethesda, let me say, GO TO HELL. The software that I have on my computer is none of your business. I purchased this game over a year ago. I play it regularly, and up until THIS point, I had greatly anticipated getting New Vegas. Believe it or not, we aren't all a bunch of software pirates. YOU created this problem, and you've left me with no way to fix it that I can find.

Now, my copy of fallout is updated to the newest patch, the disk is in the DVD drive...like it's always been, and I'm running the launcher right off the disk. Autoplay gives the error, running the launcher manually gives the error. I get the error even after I've turned Daemon tools off and ended the process in the task manager. Does anyone have a way to make this game, that i PURCHASED LEGALLY, to run? If not, who at Bethesda to I name at the top of the lawsuit?

Well, you have no grounds for a lawsuit so I'd give up that avenue.

Instead, navigate to the exe in the folder you installed the game to and launch using that. If you need to activate mods, use FallOut Mod Manager. Not sure about changing settings, but they should be to your liking by this point.

The only version of securom with Fallout 3 is a simple disk check, launching from the exe/using FOMM bypasses this.

Securom just happens to be sensitive to certain disk writing/emulating software, but can also be affected by failing drives or tarnished disks.

It is odd as I use Daemon Tools Lite 4.35.6.0091 and don't have the secure-rom issue.

I'm going to close this thread, because:

1. You have no recourse, because the software is working as designed, and empty threats of legal action are a waste of forum bits.

2. SecuROM properly detected your copy of Daemon Tools and properly refused to allow the game to launch.

3. Discussion of tools commonly used for piracy, including Daemon Tools, is forbidden on these forums.

4. The workaround of starting Fallout 3 directly from the executable (rather than the launcher) is the suitable and accepted means of dealing with cases where SecuROM will not allow the game to launch.

Your alternatives are to use the workaround, to remove Daemon Tools, or to run Fallout 3 on a different computer. Nobody is responsible for providing you with any alternatives other than these.
