Turbo VS VATS

Post » Tue Jan 05, 2010 2:34 am

Here are my opinions.

VATS
Pros:
- nice cinematic view
- help player target opponent easily
- has special effect / move

Cons:
- Opponent can dodge bullet because you are the one who slowing down
- Point blank shot with 95% accuracy can miss target( and always happen to me )
- Seems like in VATS mode, weapon damage is decrease

Turbo
Pros:
- This is the real bullet time :flamethrower:

Cons:
- Duration too short
- Not convenient

Basically I still stick with VATS because turbo is not enough for long battle, but I still prefer turbo.
I made a mod( custom eyeglass ) which will give unlimited turbo effect whenever I am holding my weapon, it is fun! :P

Player View Cinematic Camera

Pros:
Turbo Effect
Longer Duration
No Addiction
No AP Cost

Cons:
Require a Kill Shot before it Activates
Kill Shot must be a critical hit (?)
Slows you Down as Well (Is a pro for snipers, as it lets them take aim much easier)

Hmmm, I've always used them for very seperate situations and not one as an alternative for the other.

What I mean is turbo for getting out of a bad situation eg.down to my combat knife versus a pack of death claws. and VATS to disarm or make sure I get my last round in where it counts.

If I could only have one then easily VATS, it's one of the best features of the fallout games imo, great compramise for turn base mixed with real time and I use it far more often. Slow motion cinematic kill shots over max pain skills anyday.

Turbo, because you can actually do something instead of standing idly by and seeing your character die.

edit: why isn't this a poll?

Because poll option always not able to satisfy everyone :P
Btw, I edited this to become poll.

Sometime I hate VATS because i like to use shotgun and I found turbo is very useful for shotgun :flamethrower:

Turbo is better (especially for melee! You can still chop away at normal speed and there's no "bullet slowdown"!!), but more costly. I only use it rarely.

Depends on the situation

If I need to get away from somewhere or get to someplace quickly: Turbo

If I need to shoot myself out of a situation: VATS

None, for me VATS is cheating. I play on hardcoe very hard and it's not really. I've used turbo maybe four times in 5 playthroughs.

Turbo is great for some very special battles and very powerful automatic weapons. it's very nice to use with gattling laser and meltdown perk.

Easier to just use normal view and then and just sit back and pick them off out of VATS. I can hit people from maximum range with my Sniper Rifle or Hunting Rifle and just use the cinematic camera to see where I hit them with my shots.
