I should have been a lot more precise, I was only giving my own opinion.
any game that wants me to pay a monthly sub, will kill itself as far as I am concerened, but you do make a very valid point, when you way up company balance sheets at year end, we are talking mega bucks, and I for one refuse to indulge, its costly enough.

My Nephew is into his WoW big time and subcribes anually, that way it is a saving for him, and if thats his wish to do so, then so be it.
but if the gaming industry wants to go in that direction as a whole, then thats me done.

No, P2P does not mean less lag... Dedicated Servers and a fiber optic network means less lag.

No, there would be the same amount of lag (cross fingers Crysis 2 is minimal). Wouldn't pay for online console gameing. To many imature kids, mainly on xbox. Consoles will lag regaurdless, I have never played a game that has not at some point in time. Hate to admit had the least problems with COD, but traded it in for Bad Company.

Dude... you already have to pay to have internet and pay for the xbox live subscriptions, i don't see the "free" in that.

Plus that DLC crap... whats the point in launching DLC at the same time the game is release? (Mafia II for example)

The thing is, there is no shortage of shooters online. If someone charges, other people will see this as an opportunity to gain more players for their free to play shooter and it would probably work.

You won't be able to do this as long as Valve and others are around making great multiplayer FPS games.

In the case of CoD WHY should we pay? They are only running a master server, there are no dedicated servers for them to support.
