How any PC gamers can post Crytek after the unfinished disaster that they just release is mind boggling. Before Crysis 2 they would have made the list, but no way in hell they are making it now.

1. DICE
2. Valve(Tied with #1)
3. Bethesda

1) Valve (They made Half Life, I have yet to see any of their games being failures.)
2) DICE (Battlefield never gets old.)
3) Crytek (even without DX9, they still make Crysis 2 look badass.)

I hate Naughty dog now, they sold the rights to Spyro and Crash, I loved those games as a kid on my playstation, the new ones just svck now.

Fairly hard to discern a best as there are many individuals ina development team. Generally its not the developer thats the input, they just direct the flow control to meet deadlines, and if you want to btch about quality as in the recent spate there-of lacking, you should be directing your attack at the development director as they dont push for refinement quality and testing.

My Pick and REASON:

Best development team would be Codemasters due to the fact that they are an inhouse organisation. They have specialist programmers in AI for simulation and have been involved at the high end of racing games for at least 10 years now. Some may argue that thats all they do. Well it is an exacting industry and they specialise for perfomance taking reliable information through the automotive profession to simulate car dynamics and road conditions.

Second in rank is VALVE. Valve is a conglomerate of specialist programmers. What makes them second pick is that they very picky about processor quality an take their time on releasing a game. Theres not one game in their releases where there has been any poor design in the AI, and the game engine has been very stable for seamless playing of loaded areas. The quality of graphics versus object and encounter has always been very well balanced and VALVE games dont seem to have lost their edge for replayable content. Exceptional thought and planning for a relatively small team.

Final - and I'm going out on a limb here, is EA (Electronic Arts). Some people will cringe, but this huge corportation is not just a developer, it also provides a huge amount of support in managing game servers and has its fingers in many other pies, including helping would-be developers with great games to support publish their work for our enjoyment. But getting back to 3rd place - I'd say that EA has refined the availability of us being able to play almost any sports with our favourite teams and players. The genre is immense for choice of style and I'm not going to harp which sport is the best release as this cannot define the quality of play. But I will say that EA has been very consistent with development of sporting titles over the past 10 years and the future is likely to see a huge improvement with the likes of multi-corporations being able to spend money on R&D for the console games industry as it continues to grow.

1) Bungie. They made my favorite series and (unlike some companies, EA) they actually interact properly with the community. I've never seen a developer so involved with their fanbase.

2) Valve. Need I say more?

3) Epic Games. Good to see that as FPS gets more and more generic, some studios are still being innovative and making new, original games. Doesn't hurt how hyped I am for Gears 3.

Idk about 2 and 3 but Bungie is definitely #1. The Halo series is obviously a powerhouse and boy do they treat their fans well. They listen and make any changes need quick. If only all developers could be like Bungie :(
