I have just finnished every addon for fallout 3 on ps3 and i gotta tell ya, i was NOT impressed.
The pitt was horribly buggy.
Point lookout frose every half hour and sound disappeard from time to time.
Mothership zeta was ok.
Operation anchorage was ok but frose every now and then.
Broken steel was unplayable i was lucky to even finnish it.
Buggy waypoints
Every time i looted the bodies it frose. ETC,ETC.
And all of this trouble only on the ps3. I just don't understand why.

I feel your pain mate ;) I did not buy any of the DLCs for PS3 for all the reasons you mentioned and more. It's a pity because I love Fallout 3 but I only own a PS3 and not planning to get an Xbox or updating my ancient PC.

The porting to PS3 has been done in a bad way it seems and apparently nobody want to put time/effort/MONEY into making a patch to make all the DLC work as well as the GOTY edition, which is an abomination since you can't even delete the DLCs and try to play only with the original game, which is less problematic for a number of reasons (usually the save game file does not reach the point where the game becomes unplayable due to the fact that there is less content).

Let's hope that New Vegas for PS3 will be playable at least.

Danipenn hit it right with the Port situation as it was a straight dump so it was playable on the PS3 they in no way took into account it needs a lot of work in order to take full advantage of the PS3s PPE/SPE scheme. Correct me if im wrong but Obsidian also said that Beths engine for TES/Fallout just wasnt made for the PS3 in any way which I think is very true.

Obsidian has notcied Fallout 3 on PS3 is a total wreck but how much can they do about it is the question, when there using the same engine which is the main cause for all the problems.

For me it will be very simple...before buying it I am going to wait for the thumbs-up from the PS3 community ;P...otherwise I will save some money to buy another game.

Unfortunately, there will not be a patch. Yes, there is no official statement from gamesas to state otherwise but realistically, the game (GotY) has been out for almost a year and there hasn't been a patch that fixes these problems. The only person who can tell us if there is a patch in the works or not is GStaff but I don't think he can say much. You can search the forums for all the ways to prolong the game such as deleting the Game Data but at the end of the day, when your savegame file reaches the magical 10mb or so, be prepared for the game to crash.

That being said, my dream would be that Obsidian would find a solution to fix the game engine for New Vegas and then gamesas can apply that fix to Fallout 3 with a patch. But yeah, not going to happen.

lol Sorry I had to do that. You are not the only one with these problems. When I bought the add-ons i was 100% I will encounter many bugs. I bought it because it was more Fallout; I couldn't resist.

The million dollar question. The only person who can answer this question is GStaff. And as I mentioned above, I don't think he will be able to give an answer though.

They probably don't care. No company is un-capable of developing on the PS3 if they try hard enough. Bethesda could fix these bugs but they don't want to spend time on it. Unless if they somehow charged us..

1. Bethesda are finished with Fallout 3 and have been for a long time.

2. Patching the game would fix minor issues but it would not make a scratch on the major issues. The main problem is the game engine and the bad port both not taking into account the PS3, those can not be fixed by a patch.

The FO3 DLCs were delayed multiple times in order to deal with these problems, I'd guess at this point there isn't any more they can do. From what I can tell even vanilla FO3 has memory issues that tend to crop up with characters that have done a lot of things and the DLC exasperates this since they let you do even more, particularly if you're leveling past 20.

It's not much of a consolation but Bethesda's first game on the XBox (Morrowind) had a lot of memory issues but Oblivion ran very well on the 360. Fallout 3 is the first game Bethesda has developed in-house for the PS3 (Oblivion was ported by 4J studios) so hopefully the next time around they'll have a better handle on the system.

Fallout 3 was developed in-house? that comes as a shock. Well lets all hope 4J ports New Vegas becuase Oblivion runs ten times better on the PS3, its almost perfect apart from game glitches where scripting messes up. Oblivion was released on the PS3 like a month after the console first came out aswell. Shameful attempt on the developers part for Fallout 3.

Hi, fist time posting on the Fallout forums .. I've been an active member of the Oblivion and Morrowind communities for years though.

I originally bought this game for PC on release -> played it, started modding it, more modding and then went back to Oblivion (just needed some greenery) lol

I recently picked this up on the PS3, went with the normal version after reading all the horrors of the GOTY edition but was curious...

I would really like to pick up the Broken Steel add-on (I'm at level 16..) but am afraid this will ruin the game. I haven't run into many bugs or stuttering, occasionally after loading a quick save it will bog down but I always revert back to my last real save and continue from there without problem. I think Broken Steel adds items and creatures to the game world before the game is completed, is this true? If so has anyone noticed that just having Broken Steel installed has any major impact on performance?

I can understand if they add-on itself is buggy (once I get to it) but will it hinder me from playing through the rest of the vanilla game?

Thanks for your time!

[Edit] My current save game is only 4.7 Mb

I say go for it, the original will be the same in the long run and with a 4.7mb save you shouldnt really have any major problems.

Thanks guys, got to level 17 tonight so time to make a decision ..

I was just worried the extra items and enemies would cause my save game to grow too large. After poking around on the forums some more I decided to bite, downloading as we speak.

If there is any consolation, at least you were able to finish every add on. I finished OA and BS and it's been a nightmare in terms of crashes. I just started to do Point Lookout after not touching the game in a few months and man, it's laggy BUT it hasn't crashed....YET. My savegame though jumped to 9.5mb though so, I'm kinda scared.
