An evening with Crysis2

Post » Wed Jan 27, 2010 4:23 pm

it's been a hard days night and i was looking farward to play a couple o' matches crysis2. okay, i planned to spend hours online. so after starting the game i headed right into mp, firing up team-instant action. after 1 1/2 min i finally did join a game. after 1 1/2 min the round was over.
i went through all that voting (45sec!!! really!!?) and numberless "starting game" countdowns... and then got thrown out the moment the game should've started.
next try: i had to wait 3-5 min until enough players had found together in my lobby, but i got to play.
and boy did i get owned. i emptied whole clips into the heads of enemy players only to get dropped by them within three shots. the killcam shows them firing at me for 2+ seconds longer than i ever get to notice, it also shows me dying earlier than i recall. and just like that i die, i die, i die.
eventually the server will "migrate", which is really short for "wait 30 sec until session is closed", or i will get kicked again after the final countdown or people will leave the lobby and after waiting with 5/6 players for *forever* there STILL is not ONE SINGLE player out there, looking for a match. not one, that it always JUT ME, waiting for hours now to join a match in this matchmaking system FROM HELL!
so eventually, the slaughter will end. and every once in a while i get on a server that doesn't lag = man, what a great game.
it's a shame crytek couldn't get it to work better.

BTW - that 3mb download on xbl today, what was that all about?

nothing really useful like a lag patch just insignificant tweaks that were obviously a priority for Crytek.

Yeh it frustrates me when I see people suggest this. I have 4 up on my connection and never had a problem with another game. 1st achievement "Can it run Crysis?" Not very well.

Uhmm, they were trying to help you out. Nice reaction dude.

Have you considered not waiting in an empty lobby? Just back out if it takes longer than 10 seconds to find players. Get on a new search. Works for me. Also seems to get a better connection if it immediately finds a match than if it takes longer. Probably a built in priority to local players (or random anecdote, who knows with this game? :D)

no i didn't. i join once an that's it. my controller lacks the "back-button".

dude, really. just as helpful as suggesting xbox-connection issues in a thread that is about the messed-up matchmaking that ruins the game for plenty of people.
before i get some more expert advice: i DID turn off/on my modem, router, console. the matchmakings still svcks.

man i feel
some people just dont get it when a game is broken they blame it on other players cause they dont see whe lag ruins a game guess they dont know any better...but man this is Mw2 all over again..
My NAT type is open i get 25mbps and i still cant kill people while emptying full clips soemtimes more into people
this game needs a patch or severs....if not i will have to part...sad cause i like the game so far

it seems people with slower connections have no problem and even host games. i have 25/25 with open nat and rarely host. basically playing with friends close by is the only way for each player to have 3 bars and host having 4 bars.
