All you can do now is forget about that quest. Opening the door with the password and killing The Family fails the quest. You're not missing out on much- one of the rewards can be obtained elsewhere and the other (a perk) is not very useful, imo.

Don't worry about your karma. No matter how bad you are, you'll eventually gain lots of good karma. The game throws it at you in abundance. Play the quests the way you feel you should and if low karma is really bugging you, give one of the water beggars some purified water or donate caps to one of the churches.

Thank you ... I don't know why I'm taking the story personally.. Goshhh. I'm really amaze at the writing of dialog in this game...

You're not missing out on much-

Actually you are. One of the Family members is a vendor. AFAIK, you can't deal with him unless you're on good terms with Vance and his crew. If he's even still alive.

Belanos, Karl svcks (heh). But seriously, Karl is buried deep in Meresti so you have to tramp all the way in there to get to him and he is creepy and gross. I never even bother to go to him when I'm there. There are so many traders in the Wasteland he isn't too much of a loss. If the OP is missing out on anything, IMO, it is the gloriousness of Vance and his personality, the greatness of the quest itself and
Spoiler
the schematic (the mighty Shish) and the perk.

I steal all his crap while I'm there for the quest. He's almost never at the store no matter what time it is. It's a great place to rack up bad karma.

Oh, well that's true. He has a ton of stuff. But I've never recovered from taking Black Widow and using it on him *shivers uncontrollably* I tend to stay as far away from that side of the station as possible.

He is to me. That's usually one of the first quests I do in the game so he's my second vendor, and I always getting a bunch of stuff from him that Moire doesn't have. And Moire has a tendency of running out of caps very soon so I can always go to him when that happens. He's also available in the evenings when Moire, and everyone else for that matter, has closed up shop for the day. He also has a large supply of Scrap Metal I can buy from him and resell to Walter for even more XP from that quest, plus a bunch of caps.

If the OP is missing out on anything, IMO, it is the gloriousness of Vance and his personality.

Eew. I think Vance is a pompous ass myself. He's so full of himself he'd probably explode if you ever pricked him.

Ok, this game is very good but I'm having bad dreams since I got this game.. Seriously.. Like the other day my wife woke me up and said, "hey are you ok?" I remember I was going to blow up Megaton in my dream.. How could I live with that l.o.l.. Last night I dreamed of Super Mutants chasing me.. Not good.. I have to stop and maybe come back to it later..

For this game? I need like a thousand Stimpacks..

I'm sorry to hear the game is giving you nightmares. I had a couple when I first started playing (damn fire ants). They soon switched to good dreams, dreams where I'd find a shiny new unique laser pistol or bop my way through a building with my best friend by my side.

Play long enough and you just might find yourself saying goodbye to Megaton ;)
