My complicated relationship with the NCR.

Post » Tue Feb 09, 2010 9:13 pm

I dislike the NCR simply because of how inefficient they are. I'd rather have the Legion or Yes Man in charge instead of their crippling bureaucracy.
Although I'd take House over the lot of them either day.

Believe it or not, I prefer House to Legion, just because he's what would be best for New Vegas IMO. I'm not sure the NCR will last if they take over New Vegas, they take land too fast and that starts revolutions.

The Legion may not be as bad as the NCR with whos in command but the NCR have common sense like dont enslave people and crucification and brutally slicing people apart people with crude machetes. They also dont let a cannibalistic tribe run a casino where they kidnap people and eat them and only has securitrons on his side. The NCR has a democracy which is equal to the waste landers and are focused on expanding ant then restoring the post apocalyptic america to its former glory like the old world.they also dont go crazy for tech like the brotherhood and steal tech from people for their use. They aren't tree huggers. They dont dress up like elvis and treat people like crap. They have a government. They dont believe in isolationism and hoarding guns and munitions. They are not mutants though lily and marcus are cool. They have a reasonable sized army. they dont do drugs and hang people on hooks and kill people in a vault.they dont attack wastelanders on the road.they are not some stupid robot who can only say yes.The way i see it the only person better is THE ENCLAVE.

Then you said true to Ceaser twice in a row. That in fact implies CL.You don t even know what you wrote, then have the nerve to correct his grammer on a video game web sight.

I ll be watching you.........

Thank you i guess some people on here are like grammar teachers on here anymore...

Umm no just because he hates NCR doesnt mean he wants the legion...there worse anyways...

I support NCR because they remind me of AMERICA where i live at. I admire them but yet hate some of the things they do.

I like the NCR because I would always go there and steal ammo for my BOZAR. Also, I like the Enclave (Even though the Oil Rig blew up).

You can do that in Dead Money.

I know, but it isn't a permanent ending. If it was, I would.

Also, I noticed something about NCR and the Legion. I like the NCR's people, but hate its leaders. However, I like the Legion's leaders, but I don't like it's people. Especially Antony. Oh god, Antony, HE'S FREAKING POSSESSED!

I kinda know what you mean

On my first playthrough I thought it was pretty cool to be on the NCR's side and fight with them. Now I'm on my second playthrough and I don't want to be on the NCR's side. On the other hand I don't want to be on their bad side either but I don't want them to expand. I don't want Caesar or House to expand either. On the other hand I do want the Followers to prosper and expand. I support them and their ideas and how to handle the current situation of the wasteland.

I don't want to play a "bad" character either so it's going to be very interesting on where I end up in this current game.

And that my friend, is what the wildcard option is for

You want another reason to dispise the NCR, I dont remember the name of the sidequest, but essentially there is an NCR trooper who becomes a ghoul (I think it is in a cabin in searchlight). There is an option to ask the NCR if he can rejoin, to which the NCR respond that there is no room in the NCR for ghouls.

That's just one bad apple though, and he can be persuaded to see the error of his ways. That's not official NCR policy, there are plenty of ghoul rangers.

So you hate NCR but they're big and ugly and tough enough to protect you from the Legion, huh? :P
That's fair enough! Atleast the NCR has more men than the Legion has bullets, so you should be safe...

Oh, and Caesar? That man must die. He must die slowly and horribly. I'm not quite there yet, but when I get enough courage to go up there with my private NCR bodyguard and angry robot, he will suffer.

Talon Company prefers NCR, better for business, both in favor and against them.

Sometimes it seems as though people hate the NCR because it's seen to be the big faceless government so thus the right thing to do. I can understand people not liking the NCR for those reasons but to say they're evil is still.. outrageous.
I've no doubt that the NCR are backed by money grabbing sleazy politicians, but atlleast they're still essentially doing what they think is 'right'. And remember, who ever you support, you're working with the little guys, the guys on the front line who are risking their lives for what they think is right..mostly..

Who poisoned an entire village with radioactivity and wiped out all civillians there and contaminated the grounds for centuries to come?
Who likes [censored],slaving and swarming through small villages and obliterating them like plague rats, just to leave their mark?
Who wiped out an entire town by playing a sick game which involved handing out 'lottery cards', just for funsies?
Who puts people on crosses as though they think they're gods?
WHO WEARS THE DAMN SKIRTS??!!

F*&! legion.

I totally agree with the OP. The NCR is a good group but it's being run by a bunch of corrupt people and like Marcus said you roll enough people around and that's how Revolutions start. That's pretty much my main reason why I side with House even with my good character. I can't side with a group that pretty much couldn't care less about the Mojave unless it directly affects them. At least with House he wants to better the Wasteland by making New Vegas bigger. Legion at least wants to settle the Wasteland and add it to the empire. Ceasar want's his Rome and New Vegas fits the bill although I don't know why since his main capital at Flagstaff is 250 miles away from Vegas. Independent you can kinda do what you want but the NCR no they just want the Mojave for the resources they could care less about the people of the wasteland like Goodsprings and Primm.

Every faction in the game has its pluses and minuses, I guess. You just have to find the one you like.

Legion: Crucify people for kicks. Wipe out whole towns. Practice slavery and six discrimination. Encourage cannibalism. They claim to be civilized, but they're champions of total barbarity.
NCR: Bureaucratic, tax-heavy, and impose manifest destiny. Arguably the least of several evils, but that's not saying much.
House: Ruthless, autocratic, and manipulative. But he has a plan for getting humanity back on track. The real issue is whether it will work or not.
Independence: As written, it dissolves the Mojave Wasteland into anarchy. Anarchy is the kind of conditions where fiends and powder gangers thrive.

Other factions:
Brotherhood: Misguided fools who care more about hoarding technology than putting it to its proper use.
Great Khans: Raiders who deal chems. Chief reason not to wipe them out is they're really not that much worse than everyone else.
Omertas: Treacherous snakes. Ssssssssss.
White Gloves: Creepy Hannibal Lecter clones. Hide the fava beans.
Chairmen: The best of the three, though I don't know if that's saying much.
Kings: Their heart is in the right place, aside from Pacer. But some of the things they do are questionable.
Other Freesiders: A mixed bag, ranging from OK (Mick and Ralph) to downright nasty (Van Graffs).
Boomers: The only wastelanders who have a society anyone would want to live in. But they're xenophobic, territorial, and they like to blow stuff up.
Remnants: Both NCR and House could learn a thing or two from them. But I'm not sure I'd want them in charge
Followers of the Apocalypse: My faction of choice, since they actually try to help people in the here and now. NCR more wants to establish control, and House is more pie in the sky. But they're not really suited to a leadership role.

How many times?! The crucifying is a message. You've been a bad slave? Attention all slaves, don't try to kill us or you will be crucified. You've been drug running? Attention all drug runners, don't transport drugs or you will be crucified. You're NCR scum? Attention all NCR soldier scum, stop being NCR scum or you will be crucified KILLED. The Roman Army did it too, after defeating Spartacus's army, a bunch of the enemy slaves were crucified as a message to the other slaves showing them what will happen if they try to revolt.

Nipton was a trouble town full of prosttutes, thieves, and gamblers. They aren't exactly "innocent".
