The House always Fails

Post » Mon Feb 15, 2010 4:22 am

Decided to play through New Vegas again, this time in hardcoe. Spent ages building up my stats, carefully managing my inventory and edging my way toward the strip.
While wandering Vault 11, though, a message randomly popped up saying that I’d failed “The House Always Wins” mission (an impossibility seeing as I’d yet to reach Vegas and take on that mission!).
When I finally get to the Lucky 38, I find the robot, Victor, sprawled out dead on the stairs and then I get shot to pieces as soon as I enter the casino!!!!!
On 2 occasions earlier on, I’d had to load an earlier save because random characters were appearing where they shouldn’t with the intention of killing me.
(Example: the Old garbage-dump woman from Novac suddenly showing up inside Helios One with the three dogs and a shotgun!)

Bravo on letting such a bug-ridden piece of software out the door, guys.
Rest assured; I’m buying the next Fallout title second hand, because as much as I like the franchise, you’re clearly only interested in getting titles onto the shelves as fast as possible, regardless of quality.

There's a bug with the robots in the vault. They're linked with Mr.House for some odd reason and killing them makes you fail the quest and him and his robots hostile. Sneak killing them though fixes the problem.

wow you have some major bugs in your game... try reloading, if it keeps doing it, maybe hardcoe is bugged. so just play it on normal just make the difficulty very difficult.

Didn't happen on my first run through the game.

Well that's odd. Should just save before the erm..."ending" of the vault next time, just in case. Heck you should save often just because of bugs and stuff.

Having dealt with these issues a ton and yes it svcks; the best remedy is saving often. I tried disabling auto saving and made it so I only save when I rest or manually, seems to have eased some of the lockups. I have had to revert to earlier saves on a number of occasions just to avoid some of the major game breaking bugs.

Yeah the one enemy in Vault 11 was bugged, it accidently got a House Faction flag instead of a Vault 11 flag. I had that same problem although I had saved before hand so it wasn't a big deal. I do agree with the OP that the game was rushed and if they would've delayed it a couple months we wouldn't be having these problems. I think the next 2 patches will fix some if not most of the problems but yeah they definitely should've taken more time to build this game.

This Sorta of happened to me, I was heading to Cottonwood Cove and my reputation with Caesar's Legion was neutral, I was going to upgrade the securitons for Mr. House. I was walking down to get to the boat, and all of a sudden they all turned hostile and attacked me. I never recruited Boone, or helped the NCR with anything, it was just for the two Mr. House achievements.
