How do i use the Mezzmetron .. Properly ?

Post » Fri Apr 01, 2011 5:34 pm

Ok so I've been trying to get some slaves but everytime I use the mezzer all i get is the blood filled paste of my victims brains leaking on the floor strewn with eye balls ( I couldn't leave out the details also I dont have the Bloody Mess perk )

Is it because my energy weapons is 81 (I have the perk that gives me to skill points per book instead of 1 and I keep finding tesla tower books or w/e its called i stopped putting actual skill points into it at level 75) and I have 1 luck ???

? If I stand too close my intended victim dies in the manner that I started the topic
? If I stand barley in range they turn around and attack or flee
? If I stand too far away the plasma sound wave thing never reaches the target and fades away (very irritating when I've tried to mezz someone in vats and they walked out of range I normally try do it manually because of that but even when I get a successful hit in vats it pretty much the same out come when I've done it manually)

I just want to make some slaves not some blood riddled mess on the floor

Certain NPCs can't be mezzed.
High skill shouldn't negatively affect the success rate; either it has no effect, or it increases your chances; but I think it has no effect.
Could just be luck. Try it on raiders, they're all able to be mezzed (not Pitt Raiders, but the capital wasteland ones).

No, the Mesmetron will not work on kids. It just causes them to flee, same with any other weapon.

The Mesmetron is an EW weapon so more EW is good. I would recommend what Kristoffer has said. Raiders are a great target. Not every NPC is mezzable, but Raiders are easy to find and are mezzable. Also, use VATS. It makes it a lot easier. Once you've successfully mezzed one I would recommend that you immediately FT to Paradise Falls and talk to Grouse. You'll get credit right away for your slave. If you wait or stay in the same cell with the slave it might die on the trip to PF. If you go straight to him that won't happen.

Shoot whatever weapon they have out of there hands before mezzing them. I have found it greatly increases the success rate. Good targets are raiders, tenpenny security, talon mercs, regulators, random wastelanders, enclave, BoS, unnamed outcasts. Also many people you run across in random encounters, and scavengers

This list at the wiki claims to flag those NPCs that can be mezzed with a symbol (it shows other things as well). You can look through it.

I personally verified the mezzability status of every NPC on the list, based on membership in the faction that controls that status, on the 5th of this month.

The Evergreen Mills cage dancer is good practice! Otherwise it always hit-or-miss for me on raiders... and the only mezz "catch and release" that won't immediately turn on me is 1 of the 3 Five Axel Rest Stop residents.

I guess I should stop watching them take the fragmine-flying lesson and start trying to earn more caps!
