Is it really so bad?

As a PC gamer, I invoke my right to be immeasurably more anol when it comes to video games than my casual console brethren. I'm frustrated that rather than receiving a new benchmark for pc gaming, Crysis 2 has turned out to be rather more console centric. The multiplayer demo almost did it for me; "Press start to play" or whatever it was. Start. C'mon.

Then there's no dx11 support....Yet... I'm going to rest on "yet" and hope for a brighter future.

The multiplayer has failed me so far, I haven't been able to get past the lobby. I just sit and wait while listening to the clock repeatedly count down from 10 to 1. Over and over. So that's a big issue, and they haven't fixed it, Yet.

Crysis 2 also doesn't carry on the spirit of openness and sandbox play that the original Crysis spoiled us with. I can't understand why...I mean, it was a winning formula in it's own right. It's not even that consoles can't deal with open landscapes either; Battlefield Bad Company 2 has shown us this, with it's huge environments and destructible buildings.

But all these gripes aside, I'm having a blast with the Campaign. It's not Crysis. It's barely a shadow of the marvel that Crytek presented to the world when it unveiled Crysis, but it's seriously fun in it's own right. I'm just hoping that Crytek still have enough love for the PC community to dedicate a team to improving the PC version and delivering on at least the more cried about omissions. If they get the multiplayer right by tweaking the balance regularly and promoting competitive play through intelligent mechanics, it could just be my next competitive shooter...but I doubt it. BFBC2 is just too good.

I'd like to think that Crysis 2 has a great future in store for it on the PC platform, and it just might if Crytek spends enough time polishing over the next few weeks. It seems like there isn't anyone in the PC community OTHER than the critics that think Crysis 2 on PC is freakin' awesome. Well, I think it's awesome, but it's not really Crysis. It's more like Halo, Cod and Killzone had a three-way and no one can quite figure out who the parents are, but I still love it.

Just wanted to hear if any other PC gamers had their own more positive feelings towards Crysis 2, cus, all being said, I think it rocks.

The game is great, but Crytek's community relations aren't. That's how I see it.

Assault is insane fun, love the asymmetrical warfare in a counter-strike style gamemode! Capture the Relay is as solid as CTF can be, Extraction is a great original gamemode, and Crash Site is a cool take on KotH, where the hill can bite back!

I don't think people are really arguing that it's a bad game, but that it's not the game that it advertised itself as. The graphics are great, but at the same time there are lots of little things that bug the hell out of me. Mostly the textures. I don't enjoy seeing this great world and then I look to my left at a wall and I see pixels >_>

I agree that the single player is good. I've been enjoying it alot. Of course, not having the nanocred or whatever randomly go to zero is really frustrating.

But the fact that I straight up cannot even getting into the multiplayer lobby because of "network connectivity issues" despite obviously being online is just idiotic.

SO many problems out of the box is frustrating.

People buy PC games (as opposed to pirating them) the majority of the time because either they support the developer and want them to put out more stuff, or because they want a legit serial key to play online.

I bought the game for both those reasons, and yet a) I simply cannot play multiplayer (yet, they've said they're working on the issue, so I'll grant them that, hopefully it works within the week D:) and the developer betrayed my trust, so why should I support them? They promise DX11 support, but it's been pulled from both their website and Nvidias. The least they could do is say "sorry, we decided against DX11 support afterall because of such-and-such reason". But no, we don't even get that, we get them completely ignoring all of our feedback and queries about the graphics and physics of the game. It's rude, and a slap-in-the-face. They basically straight up lied.

Yea this is the problem. if they made this game and called it a different game then yes its a good game and looks good.....but this is not crysis. Doesnt look like crysis, doesnt feel like crysis, doesnt play like crysis, doesnt have characters from crysis or storyline connection. For them to call this crysis is a kick in the groin...im disgusted!

Aye, the game is very fun, but without the ability to customize graphics is leaves people like me in a bind. The game looks great, but motion blur gives me such a bad headache after playing for 10 minutes i have to stop, and literaly turn off my PC for an hour. That by itself is enough to piss me off, theres no other PC game out there that only has 3 preset and you cant change them even in console mode.

If you wanted a benchmark tool, you should have bought 3DMark instead.

Yeah, fair enough. I'm still hoping for a big "we love the pc community so much, here's what we're gonna do:" response from Crytek. I seriously want dx11 support too, I have a beast of a rig and it needs hardcoe games to munch on.

Apparently some champion has released an app that allows you to alter the graphics options in more detail, like turning off the motion blur. You may want to check it out while we wait for Crytek to get their sh** together. It's in the recent posts. Not an ideal solution though.

I can remember the first time i Installed and played Crysis, The feeling of being in a Massive world, The destrucatable environments, The Action scenes , the whole build up and sense of forboding terror as encounters with the aliens became more frequent.

The Truly INSANE graphics that brought my brand new pc build to its knees on higher settings, yet still Blew my mind at a decent framerate after adjusting a nice fat list of settings . And the controls that were designed from the ground up for PC. the list goes on and on and on but for me personally Crysis was a Truly triple A PC game that exceeded my expectations in so many ways.

Enter crysis 2 .. At the end of the day its merely Ok.. the story is interesting enough to feel a bit of reward from level to level , the combat and interaction fun at times, and then broken at others. By the time i was half way through the game it was screaming pretty much below par of many other titles that have shipped this , and last year . Even worse was the Broken mele , the dumbed down controlls, and my god.. Graphics and physics that are years behind the times ??
Ive since re installed crysis one , re launched Warhead , and instantly see , and more importantly as i play FEEL major differences. Crytek is now a console port gaming company period.. As a PC gamer i feel this is a huge step in a terribly wrong direction.
As a check cashing member of Crytek im sure Cevat and the rest feel this is a great step toward a more secure financial future..
There are very few people left out there in Game companys that have the drive and passion to make PC titles that really shine, and fewer still that do, yet will never get to express it due to Corporate demand on sales and compromising features to support old Consoles .
PC gaming isnt dead, but it does have a really bad Disease..

I just think it svcks that current console tech, which is vastly outdated, is what determines what games are available for our beast PCs. Agree on the Crytek console company thing though, if they wanted to do a console port game, why ruin the name of Crysis when it originally stood for everything that was amazing about PC gaming? Money :( . If only COD wern't so damned popular, developers wouldn't feel the need to retread Activisions' steps.

Return to Crysis
