What would Fallout NV be categorized as?

Actually... no; but it would be wrong to have them be all too obvious ~and in many cases it might damage the game's believability (I'm not in favor of that; though I am partial to mechanics over 'immursion', usually).

for instance, i thought persuading lanius to retreat from the battle at hoover dam was pretty ridiculous. especially after it explained how he attacked and killed members of his own tribe for surrendering to the legion. He would rather have fought to the death

I'm not that far into the game yet.... It sounds kind of flaky, but I'd have to see it play out.

True, but violence doesn't ALWAYS have to be a solution. Just because it's Anarchy in a wasteland, doesn't mean we HAVE to resort to violence. Personally, I enjoy talking it out over fighting.

I found myself talking my way out of fighting in nv a lot, becausd I just wouldn t have wanted to kill them if it were me. I always do the first play through as if it were me. Like when Marcus askes you to run off the mercs without killing them, he has a good point in why he didn t want you to kill them. The mercs try to act hard, but give good reason why they were there. I was glad I didn t have to kill them.

I really did not want to kill House at all, because Vegas would not have been there if not for him, but I already joined bos and the game did not even give me and option to tell him NO. He may have attacked me, but aleast I could have be a stand up guy .

Re: FO3 Behemoth at GNR. I found it a bit exciting and refreshing to be pulled out of my element. Things can't ALWAYS go according to plan, and in that instance, at least you had a platoon of power armor buddies backing you up. Perhaps they could have added some sneak-based options or let your Charisma boost the BoS (like companion nerve from NV) for the diplomats, but hey ... Nothing is perfect.

@ Col martyr: Hoover damn... While you probably can't go FULL pacifist, you can certainly use diplomacy (in advance) to severely lessen the fighting required. I played through as independent, and got literally everyone except Ceaser on my side. During the final battle, they all showed up did 95% of the work for me. Boomers, upgraded Bot, Rangers, Cannibal, Khans. I had a freaking army, and plowed through everything.

Final point, re:Lanuis. I was similarly dissapointed that he could be talked down. After all the buildup, everyone talking about what a monster he is, and how he can never fail .... I expected him to be more "death before dishonor" and either attack regardless, or go all sepukku in shame.

Actually, he initiates the attack first by killing Initiate Redding.

@Smert- You have a point, but can we avoid killing or firing a gun at Hoover Dam? (WITHOUT a companion) Can you convince a faction who wants you dead because you dont support them not to attack? point is, don't be so quick to berate a game. While lacking in some lovable Fallout traits, I'd say Fallout 3 is just as Fallout as the older versions. Then again, I've got no real bias either way

Well the car blows up killing initiate redding and you don't actually see the behemoth attack him if i remember .
