Reminds of of Veronica. Because I have the perk that makes stuff explode with energy weapons, I can't even attack stuff she runs near. Half the time i'm left sitting there, holding my gun out while she aggros EVERYTHING and i'm just thinking "So um.. ya... if you uhh, need my help or anything.. just ask.. ya know.. no problem or anything... not like.. my guns cause [censored] to explode... or whatever...". Makes me feel like Im a Fallout 3 companion.

Admittedly, ED-E doesn't help the case much either. I can be randomly running, and it will go to a kill-cam of something ED-E just irradicated, and I knew nothing about it.

I use 1 and Boone is still pretty badass. Veronica and co. are pretty bad though with 1 :cryvaultboy:

If its not much of a challenge you could play very hard/hardcoe. It makes you not take companions for granted. :toughninja:

You could try increasing game difficulty?

I used to have issues with companions stealing my kills. But frankly, unless they attract more trouble than they can handle, walk into mines you were planning to disarm and sell, ruin your stealth-based battle plan etc.- why not let them be awesome? Any shot they take saves you ammo.

I'm on HARD now. I thought there was an achievment for doing normal, hard, and very hard? If there is no hard achievement maybe I'll switch but I can't see how very hard/hardcoe will be less breezy then Hard/hardcoe.

Arcade has to be the most annoying one. With his Plasma defender and always stealing my kills before i even get a shot off.

Its not........a few more bullets is all. The NPCs need much better stats across the board.

As followers IMHO I think fo needs to take a look at old tactical shooters for follower commands.

A point and click movement deal.

follow me, hold fire, fire on me, go silent, and point and click would work wonders.

Then all we d need is some enemies worth shooting and we d be good to go.

That would be optimal........ Besides being able to be anyone in your squad, but everything else.

Take Boone he s a trained recon sniper, but when he is a follower he acts like he never watched a target before.

Raul shoots 120 .308 bar rounds at mantises

Star Paladin Cross fries 1 single rad roach in 101 with a flamer.

This is all unnecessary or over kill. Hold fire would put a stop to all that. Socom 2 had great squad command too.

Err. This game is way to easy on hardcoe + Very Hard, that I don't even need companions for this game. Right now, since it's the best i'v found except power armor, The Chinese Stealth Suit, 1st Recon Barret, and a mix of energy weapons depending on where I am going, I can tank 6-7 enemies whilst setting traps with mines to lure them, or just poke around a corner, blast out a few plasma shots, duck back, then redo it. I can actually play this entire game (I'v tried it for about.. 3-4 hours of gameplay) letting JUST ED-E and Veronica attack. Neither have died, nor come close to it. And you cannot bad talk Veronica with Power Armor + Good unarmed weapon. I'v watched her WRECK deathclaws one on one. The only real thing hardcoe does, from what i'v seen, is add's a higher damage rate (looks like it might be 1.5x more), and that's scarcely noticeable.

I agree half and half on this. Due to both my companions completely jacking my kills, i'v got 2700 Small Energy Cells, about... 3700 MF Cells, 4000 or so Flamer Fuel, and about 1500 Electron Charge Packs. I'v actually resorted to turning one of the rooms of the Lucky 38 into an ammo storage unit. Also, increasing game difficulty really doesn't do anything noticeable, all it does it make [censored] die faster.

True Very Hard and hardcoe aren't very hard or hardcoe at all but companions are lots of fun when roleplaying. (except when they spas out on you).

I wish my PC could run Vegas but my graphics card is terribad. Mods would add so much more to the experience. :cryvaultboy:

I just can't play Bethesda games without mods. I have upgraded just for these games and others that can be modded. It adds so much, and infinate replay. Though it would be nice to see Fallout on the big screen, that is the only downside.

You can attach the computer to the big screen TV, assuming it's a modern TV it's not difficult/don't need a separate adapter unit. HDMI output on graphic card/on TV means you only need 1 cable. If your graphic card only has a DVI output you may need a DVI > HDMI adapter cable + separate sound cable. Cordless keyboard & mouse (or gamepad if you prefer) and there you go. :)

They aren't in the same room :)

You can unplug it and move it. :teehee: For a single player game like NV anyway, as long as you put Steam in offline mode before you unplug/move. Or wireless 'net.
But yeah, I understand. I don't move my pc's from room to room often either. Usually we just leave a spare next to the TV if we're in a mood to play on the TV a lot for a while.

--------------

And, on topic...low charisma won't make companions weaker, btw, it just means they don't get bonuses. To be honest, human companions are overpowered and always will be. You can keep them gimped in terms of equipment and eventually that does make a difference (as enemies get stronger) but not by tons. Other than that, travel alone more. Pick up companions for their stories then drop them again, or tell them to Wait outside of cave/vault entrances, that sort of thing. Or put them on melee and don't give them a good weapon...of course that means they run in front of you... :)

Veronica without a weapon is still way to strong ><.

As for gimping gear, later in the game on hardcoe, your companions instantly die due to this :(. I'd like a mod which let's me gimp my companions but also flags them as essential AND requires me to use stims // doctor bag or something else to revive them. Else they lay there and I drag their sorry ass around with me with 'z'

Try it without ever changing her default armor too. She won't last long if it's more than a couple enemies. Well she never did for me anyway, but my playstyle might not be the same as yours. I tend to charge in like a crazy maniac. :D
Requiring the player to have to use an item to revive a companion (even on non-hardcoe) is something I wouldn't mind having either. Resurrect potions, stims, whatever. The notion that after a few minutes (in non-hardcoe) they just get up and are all super-fine kind of bugs me.
