Shotguns are useless. An assault rifle of some sort is 9001 times better at taking people down with a cone of bullets. Also, for some reason, Obsidian thinks shotguns can't hit anything past 15 feet or so when firing buckshot. This doesn't help matters...

Why would you ever fire buckshot???
I ve never really seen any video game that gives shot guns their real life effective range.

Because slugs seem to have an anti-cazador repulsion effect on them. The only reason I carry a shotgun is cazadors, magnum buckshot ensures a shot that would normally hit any other enemy actually hits the annoying wasps.
