Obsidian Dev Layoffs, including some Fallout:New Vegas Devel

Post » Thu Apr 15, 2010 9:10 pm

Article from the Fallout Wikia can be found http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:Ausir/Layoffs_at_Obsidian.

Since I didn't see a thread on this, I felt there should be one.

It's a shame they layed off people working on a game you might as well call a WIP,since it still has three unreleased DLC's on their way.

On the off shot that those layed off Dev's read this, I wish you the best of luck in the job market and your future careers, every single developer who worked on New Vegas helped make this such an amazing game.

Wow, that is horrible....... I would think if there are jobs out there for these people, they most certainly will be considered. I wonder why they needed to lay them off. I thought fo nv sold a lot of copies right from the jump and still is.

Well its hard times for most everyone now, because of reasons we can t talk about on here. Good luck to them........... With fo devs as a reference they should be able to grab jobs that are avalible out there.

On a much less important note. I don t think this will effect the dlc s for us that much. They didn t close up shop or anything. They could bring some of these people back temp if they need them to help finish something.

HANG ON OBSIDIAN DON T GIVE UP!!!!!!!

I bought the game brand new 2 times. I count as 2 sales 360 and PS3

Skimming over the article, it seems like a lot of those guys were interns, but Joe Sanabria seems kind of important, with him being lead artist and all. If he's responsible for NV's art direction, then i'm really sad, nay, worried to see him go.

I hope they all manage to find another place in the industry without much difficulty.

I think some of these were DLC hires (don't quote me tho), but some definitely aren't.
