Wait... streetlights?

Post » Tue Apr 20, 2010 2:06 am

I don't know if I'm imagining it, but ever since the patch I'm seeing streetlights on, in Westside, around the Crimson Caravan, etc. Is it due to power from Helios? If so, why didn't I notice it in any of my other playthroughs?

Dunno, it was probably there from the start, but I'm thinking they fixed a bug that stopped them coming on. I like it, I can see now :)

I've seen one on in Primm but never at the Crimson Caravan. I can't really remember Westside. I'll have to check because on my current playthrough I distributed power evenly.

I've seen streetlights "on" in Freeside forever, as well as Primm (before doing Helios) Can't remember Crimson Caravan.
Did you recently change any game settings? I think the light fade setting effects how close you have to be before they 'turn on'/are visible for you. Or one of them does anyway.

hmmm.. I've always been running around in the dark though. There is now a lamp almost directly over the entrance to The Thorn as well, illuminating the manhole, that was never there before (it was always pitch dark and I had to move around a lot to actually get in there lol).

It's not Helios, because I always play power>whole grid. Bizarre. But if no-one else has noticed, its probably just me.

ahhh, I think I know what it is. I've chosen "Friend Of The Night" perk, and it is turning the streetlamps from specs of light to actual streetlamps that actually illuminate the area underneath them. Cool

Do they look like this?

Cause if so, it's not Friend of the Night. That's what I've seen in my game without that Perks/mods for a long time.
Maybe you had a minor bug that kept them from working properly (graphic driver/bloom/hdr issue or game itself, who knows) and the patch made it go away.

I'm running a "darker nights" mod, and it's VERY obvious that there is functioning streetlights. It is very very dark at night except where there are lights and fires. Go figure. :)

I was hoping to see a difference with the full grid option. I don't think there is though thats why i just power the archimedes now.

Same thing for the eldorado substation. They talk about it being nice seeing the L38 all lit up again... I can't see any difference at all when I do it..

that first one is EXACTLY what I was seeing. Now I have big light beams that illuminate the floor, and does what they are supposed to do. I thought I was going mad for a second there.... Thanks hon

In that case you may want to consider the already mentioned Electro-City mod, it includes working streetlights across the mojave (and some pretty good reasons why they are working ;)).

Did you also notice the Huge Walls they added in Freeside? I don't know if it's just me but I've never seen those there before
