Even though I am not a big Steam fan the only thing stopping me from getting it on Stream is... its still $50 on Steam and $20 everywhere else :brokencomputer:
Pretty sure you can just buy it elsewhere, stick the CD key into Steam and it'll run through Steam.

Is there? I find that hard to believe, but will have a look.

@ Mr. Hines or who ever deals with Vegas PC version I would still appreciate a response to my letter, please.

Many people in this thread are terribly rude and discourteuos here, when I am not attacking them and not stopping them using Steam. Is this fair? Is this the way of the Fallout forums these days?

I am being polite so please help, Mr. Hines.
Er... if you're wondering why people are being discourteous, it's because you're writing a letter to somebody in the wrong role (marketing, not sales) from the wrong company (Bethesda, not Obsidian- which is worse because Obsidian devs actually post here, so you appear to be snubbing them) requesting six months after release (of a game that you spell wrong) that they re-release it in a different format (which would necessitate creating entirely new mechanisms for DRM and DLC). It makes you seem at the very best entirely naive, and at worst pretty arrogant- you can't possibly expect them to actually comply with your requests? Surely you can realise that the vagaries of the market mean that you can't cater for everyone. And bear in mind, PC gaming is a marketplace Steam has something ludicrous like a 60-70% share of, and one that is dominated by the kind of power users who have high spec PCs and always-on broadband; the more casual, less resource-intensive gaming market is covered quite happily by consoles.

E: Also, if you're trying to write a fancy letter using drown/drowned twice in the first sentence feels a tad inelegant, no? Spice it up a little.

Since Bethesda is the publisher (the publisher usually decides what if any DRM is used) it makes sense to ask someone from Bethesda.

Steam used to be a hindrance to play on, but that was back in 2004 when Half-Life 2 came out.

Now it's actually a pretty stable and functional network. It centralizes everything into one location, all the updates and add-on's are right at your fingertips. I've never really had problems validating games while playing offline.

All these reasons and more is why I mainly game on the PS3 now. Free PSN doesn't hurt either. Yea I do miss the sweet mods from F3, but PC gaming is a pain if you're not interested in multiplayer or personal stats.

You mean the PSN that has been down for a week? :P I have a PS3 too, but it just doesn't compare to, much less replace my PC. I've never seen Steam or any other DRM as a downside big enough to give up my PC. Besides it's much quieter than my PS3 (slim) :hehe:

THERE IS a non-steam version of New Vegas for the PC. I've seen it available at direct2drive.
But as you need to download the game you'll still need to have a decent internet connection.

Nope, Direct2Drive version still requires Steam.

Says right there on it's store page.

This product is not eligible for refunds. This title installs and requires a 3rd party client install to play.

Not very clearly I'll admit, but its the only logical answer that Steam is the aformentioned 3rd party software.

I was skeptical and hesitant to Steam before I got it like four years ago. Now, it's one of my favorite programs. I use it to chat with people, plan online gaming with fun people I've met through games, keeping all games in one place with easy ways to buy and download (two weeks ago, three games that I really wanted, but hadn't the money to spare, were on 75% Sales for two-three days, and needless to say I got them!), and Steam's internet browser from ingame makes it easy to play a game and be on the wikia for said game at the same time, and a lot more. I see only good things in Steam... atleast for someone who's always on the internet like me :)

With four kids and a wife plus 2 PC's and one laptop in a 2 bedroom house, means alot more hands to mess things up; plus only one of my computers could be considered a "gaming" PC. That's why its a hassle not so much because of the software element. Try competing with teenagers for PC time and you can understand why. Being the only tech guy in the immediate family means I always gotta say "did u try turning it off and on?" alot.
