Gaining back interest

So I've only been able to play through New Vegas once since i got it last Christmas. I've tried starting a second play through many times so that I can finish all the different endings, but I can never get into a character enough to get very far before I get bored and start another character with a different build. The only character I have saved at the moment is a stealthy gunslinger.

So my question is, what are some builds that you have used and have given you a lot of enjoyment? Almost all the play through's i have done in Fallout 3 and New Vegas have always been stealth based, so I'd prefer to stay away from those types of characters. Any advice you can give me would be appreciated.

Explosives or unarmed. Neither require much stealth if you don't want to be stealthy.

My most enjoyable build yet has been of one named Floyd Barrett...an unstable musician turned courier after discovering that life on stage was a bit more than he could handle. After Benny shot him in the head (that's why he's so unstable...That and the excessive drug use he's guilty of) he vowed revenge on the man who nearly took his life.

After a short time wandering through the Mojave he discovered the NCR. He has found a new purpose in life now; although he is still unstable, (he kicks his dog for no reason, shoots people who get snotty with him) he still supports the NCR since they have been nothing but nice to him.

Along comes Dead Money, and not surprisingly, the only one he can really connect with is God/Dog. All the others he is a bit detached from.

137 hrs into this character and still plugging away, although I'll have to put the game down again for a while till the next DLC gets released...sometime after Skyrim comes out. :whistling:

Most of my characters end up being stealthy gunfighters. I get the impression that's pretty common.
My last different character was Max Retro. I got him Energy Weapons, Explosives, Repair, Science, Barter, Weird Wasteland and ED-E; then I got to RepConn, put on the Space Suit and never took it off again (have you seen the DT on that thing?). I avoided the war aspect of the game and the Main Quest (never spoke to House even once); just ran around exploring the more weird and sciency side of things.
It was pretty fun; it cracked me up to see Max gambling in the Ultralux in his space suit and helmet. I retired him at level 35; his final act was reuniting a certain DJ and friend.
The wasteland was littered with ash piles.

EW, Science, and Medicine.

Only using Energy Weapons is so much fun in New Vegas.

I usually do science, repair, guns, and speech with the Tag! perk.

However I opted to make an evil brute that's really strong and near [censored] (10 STR, 9 END-- 3 Carisma/Intelligence). It's turning out to be pretty fun just running around with a lead pipe bashing in the heads of roving traders.
